League Setting - Skill Level: Standard vs Advanced

PostThu Jan 07, 2021 3:38 pm

The default setting for League skill level is standard. There is also an advanced setting. Are the details of this difference explained anywhere? I have looked around for this definition in the rules and can't find it. Does anybody know? Thanks.

I'm nearly certain that there is no difference. You would join an advanced league if you want to play against better managers.

There used to be some kind of "incentive" called "Manager Ratings" which were based on a lot of criteria like wins, teams played, etc. You got more ratings points for playing in an Advanced League. Now I think it's meaningless, or even more meaningless than before.

A big difference is super-advanced injuries. It is common to play with a large number of injuried guys, since HAL won't allow injuries if it would reduce you below minimum number to field a team.

But in super-advanced injuries you can get 60 day injuries:

Greene, Shane P - 3.16M Game 61 6 additional days
Joyce, Matt RF 1 2.73M Game 11 60 additional days
-----
Wendelken, J.B. P - 5.71M Game 2 60 additional days
Lemahieu, DJ 2B 1 10.34M Game 80 3 additional days
----
Maeda, Kenta P - 5.50M Game 74 30 additional days
Sisco, Chance C 2 1.85M Game 101 5 additional days
---------

Imagine a league with limited roster moves the whole season. I think that would change how people see the injury guys and minors/replacements would be very important --esp 'super utility' guys.
