Which of Babe's Cards is best?

PostSat Nov 09, 2019 11:59 am

I'm in a high salary cap league in Briggs '41. Which of Ruth's cards do you think is best? His 16.47M card looks great, but hasn't performed up to my expectations. I have other power guys, too, including Kiner and Gibson.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Ya can't go wrong with any of them, to be honest.

Pick your poison.

His OPS and all-around numbers are probably better with top two cards, but for power, I like the 13.03

I've had some amazing results from the 16.47 year: .485 OBP /.770 SLG /192 R/66 HR/ 168 RBI in a 200M league in Ebbets '57. That's the card I would pick if money were no object.

For me I'd do it this way, depending on cap:
100M: 13.03 (or 80M)
140M: 15.10
200M: 16.47
They're all great cards, but the above seems to me to offer the best value per cap.

Also depends on where you are playing him, and against what pitching mix.
I rarely can afford the 16.47 year, but its good for OF defense
I like the 13.03 card at 1b if there is LHP to be faced.
Love the 15.10 card at 1b also (I'm a sucker for a bullet proof card).
Have used the 13.07 card to good effect in the OF as well.

Honestly, the Ruth pitching card is a very nice one as well, especially when there is no DH. He doesn't allow HR but has that 8N pitcher hitting card.

The correct answer is...

Trade him to Salty!

and if not then 15.10 given that you are in a power park

Whether or not you are in a power or Petco, all the Ruth cards have 8 ballpark HR's both ways. So they are all equally affected by the park factors. When I use the 16.47 card, I lead off with it. Who wouldn't want a leadoff man with a .475 OB%? And I have used the 15.1 card in LF to good effect. I agree with Bernie, though, the 13.03 card is the best VALUE if you need cap space elsewhere.

In a high-cap league, you always want to use the 1923 card. As rburgh said, there's value in some of the other cards at lower caps
