1. 2018 Blake Snell TB LHSP, AL Cy Young Winner, 21-5, 1.89, 0.974whip, 221k's, The Rays franchise needs this card!!! https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/93445/2018/1/2018
2. 1930 Carl Reynolds, White Sox, RF/LF 2(-1)e12, CF 3. Bats R .359/.388/.584/.973 with 16 SBs, 22 HRs and 104 RBI, with career highs in PA, H, R, BA, TR (18!), HR, RBI, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+ & TB. Only Sox legends Luke Appling, Shoeless Joe Jackson and Eddie Collins (twice) had a higher single season BA for the White Sox. Reynolds had blazing speed and was considered among the best OFers in the game, but was slowed by injuries after 1930. HOFer Al Simmons played for the Sox from 1933-35, but Reynolds' 1930 season was better than any of the 3 by Simmons. Reynolds finished his 13 year big league career with a .302 career BA. He has just one lousy $1.34 mil card with the 1934 Red Sox.
3.1946 Roy Cullenbine Detroit 335/477/537 1.014 (200 points better than his only card). 175 OPS+ 1B, LF, RF Major league leader in consecutive games with a walk (22).
4. 1992 Curt Schilling P PHI. He spent most of his time in Philadelphia and should have a card there. 1992 saw a career best ERA, H/9 and HR/9. Low K totals should keep his salary down and this card can both start and relieve.
5. 1969 Mack Jones - The starting left fielder and darling of the expansion Montreal Expos, Jones hit a three-run home run and two-run triplein an 8–7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the Expos' first home victory as a franchise at Jarry Park. Jones' blast was also the first MLB home run hit outside the United States. Jones was so popular in Montreal that the left-field bleachers in Jarry Park were nicknamed "Jonesville." It's a shame that he currently has no card in ATG.

6. 1974 Bill Buckner - .314/.348/.412 2R balance. *18, 1-15 running. I did have another nomination in mind, but with Buckner's recent passing this became a priority for me. We need a card that represents Buckner when he could still run, and was an awesome fielder in LF!
7. 1993 Tony Phillips Detroit LF, CF, RF 2B, 3B Only top 20 MVP finish 313/443/398. Far better card then his two current cards
8. 1926 Les Bell St Louis Cards 3B .325/.383/.518 finished 6th in MVP voting, 33 doubles/14 triples/ 17 HRs, 137 ops+, rh hitter
9. 2001 Matt Morris, St Louis Cardinals, SP, 3.16 ERA, 1.257 WHIP, 3rd in Cy Young voting, would be a valuable addition to EXP Cardinal franchise teams
10. 2018 Jacob deGrom NYM SP 10-8, 1.70 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, NL Cy Young Award winner. In franchise mode, would make an already tough Mets rotation downright scary with Seaver, Gooden, Harvey, Koosman, Dickey et al.
11. 1980 Rudy May, Yankees - 15-5 2.47 1.044 WHIP. 7R balance, tough on righties. Led A.L. in ERA, WHIP & SO/BB ratio. Career bests in WHIP, BB9 & SO/BB ratio. Crafty lefty deserves a better card. Would add a nice backward lefty card, and a great 5 man rotation option. Just 1 ATG card.
12. 2014 Pat Neshek, StL, RH RP. 7-2, 1.87 ERA, 6 saves. 67.1 IP, .787 WHIP, 195 ERA+. still active - has played with 7 teams. Quality RP representative of this modern era, https://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/p ... 014/1/3014

17. 1993 Mike Blowers SEA: 3B, 1B. 280 BA, .357 OBP, .475 SLG, 9L. This is a lefty killer card (9L) better in offensive value vs LHP than Mark Brouhard's--and Blowers plays 3B! Assuming OK defense and a moderate price-tag, this will prove a popular and frequently used card. https://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/p ... /1690/1/90
18. 1905 Mike Donlin BA 356 .413 .495 .908 OPS+ 167; 676 Plate Appearances; lead league in RS 124; lifetime .333 hitter with lifetime 142 OPS+; 33 Steals ;OPS for this season is almost 100 points above his current and only card in ATG.
19.1923 Cy Williams, Phillies, CF - Led the League with 41 homers, 19 MORE than the runner-up; Cy actually led the NL in homers 4 times. His best slugging year deserves a card..
20. 2004 Francisco Rodriguez Anaheim Number three all time saves, 16 years, no card. Fourth in Cy Young. With 84 innings 1.0 WHIP, only .2 home runs per 9 and an incredible 13.2 strikeouts per 9.

27. 1993 Alex Fernandez, White Sox SP 18-9 3.13, WHIP 1.16.. franchise leagues that focus on exp era need more White SOX RHSP.. He was a solid pitcher in his career with the White Sox and Marlins
28. 1925 Bob Meusel, NYY, E Balance, LF-1(-4)e5, RF-2(-4)e5, CF-4(-4)e5, 3b-4e27, 3 Game INJ Risk
Did you know that Meusel trails only Babe Ruth, Ken Williams and Cy Williams for Home Runs hit during the 1920s, yet his two current cards are the two lowest career home run seasons in his career (8 & 9). In 1925 he led the league in Home Runs (33) and RBI (134)

Tigers shortstop in the 1930s, World Series in 1934 & 1935, 9 year DP combo with Charlie Gehringer.
Has good OBP, would be a nice, cheap alternative in smaller cap leagues. Also continued producing for Detroit for several decades as a city councilman.
30. 1949 Stan Musial - doesn't hit the ball quite as hard as the '48 card, but lots more walks, higher OBP, and better platoon split vs. RHP
31. 1985 Rick Reuschel, Pirates 14-8 2.27 1.057 Career bests in ERA, WHIP, H9, SO9. At the tender age of 36, Reuschel put together his finest season for the lowly 104 loss Pirates. The portly pitcher even won a Gold Glove! Reuschel is another player with 200+ career wins, playing mostly with bad teams, who is deserving of a better card, and the Post War/Expansion Pirates desperately need more starting pitching.

32. 1928 Max Bishop, PHA, 2b-1e18
4.3 2b, 0.4 3b, 0.8 HR, 26 BB 373/530/464, .993 OPS
4.7 2b, 0.4 3b, 1 HR, 26 BB 402/551/507, 1.058 OPS
Bishop was a big contributor for those great A's teams. He should have his best card.

1939 St Louis Cardinal catcher Don Padgett. 257ABs, hit .399, OPS 998. Part time catcher/OF. Lefty catcher who spent 4 years in the service during WWII. Let’s give our veterans support! Can’t have enough lefty catchers around to pound RH pitchers. Getting tired of Jack Clements anyways....

Sincerely,

Don't get me wrong, I like the Meusel nomination, although arguably the best all around offensive season of his great career was in 1921, when he hit .318 24 138 .356 .559 .915 with career highs in HITS, RUNS, 3B (16!) RBI, SLG & OPS. However, I have no idea what Meusel's defensive rating was for 1921.

But the main reason I'm even commenting on the Meusel nomination is that there's one obvious and glaring omission from the list of players who hit more HRs during the 1920s than Meusel: Rogers Hornsby. Below is the list of the top 10 HR hitters during the 1920s:

Babe Ruth 467
Rogers Hornsby 250
Ken Williams 202
Cy Williams 190
Jim Bottomley 146
Lou Gehrig 146
Bob Meusel 146
Harry Heilmann 142
Hack Wilson 137
George Kelly 134

Gehrig and Bottomley are tied with Meusel for HRs during the 1920s, but played in fewer seasons in the '20s than Meusel.

By the way, I checked the seasons of the players on the list and found this gem, the 1925 season for HOFer Jim Bottomley:

1925 Jim Bottomley, Cardinals, 1B, bats L. .367 21 128 .413 .992. Led NL in games played, HITS and DO. Career highs in HITS and DO. Near career highs in games played, BA, OBP & OPS.

I'm out of nominations for 19.4, but 1925 was arguably Bottomley's best season and perhaps this would be a great card for smallball given the high BA and high number of doubles and triples. I expect the card would be similar to 1921 George Sisler, $7.67 mil or 1929 Bill Terry, $7.18 mil, with a little more power, given the similarity of their stats.

I’ve compared the 1921 stats to 1925. 1925 is a more unique for Meusel, plus he’s a 3(-4) in 1921.

1921 Bob Meusel, NYY, Bats-R, E Balance, RF-3(-4)e20, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH--7.8 2b, 4 3b, 4.7 HR, 2 BB 360/377/644, 1.022 OPS
RH--7.6 2b, 3.8 3b, 4.7 HR, 2 BB 350/369/629, .997 OPS

1925 Bob Meusel, NYY, Bats-R, E Balance, LF-1(-4)e5, RF-2(-4)e5, CF-4(-4)e5, 3b-4e27, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH--5.1 2b, 2.5 3b, 10.2 HR, 7 BB 316/366/723, 1.089 OPS
RH--5.1 2b, 2.5 3b, 10.0 HR, 7 BB 311/362/712, 1.074 OPS
Led League in Home Runs and RBI.

I think it’s a little humorous that, with some of our nominations on this list, you’d pick Meusel to question, Bernie.

the Hornsby and Muesel cards are not mutually exclusive-
I do remember trying to get in that other Horns card though- was it the 1922 one?

You can easily convince me to change my nomination to that card btw.

Andy- do you remember which one we were talking bout?

I’ll look, Salty. A big problem with Hornsby is his defense in some seasons.

Check this thread, may have to scroll to find the 25 Hornsby:

1. 2018 Blake Snell TB LHSP, AL Cy Young Winner, 21-5, 1.89, 0.974whip, 221k's, The Rays franchise needs this card!!! https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/93445/2018/1/2018
2. 1930 Carl Reynolds, White Sox, RF/LF 2(-1)e12, CF 3.
G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO HBP SH SF IBB DP AVG OBP SLG OPS
135 455 73 123 23 5 22 79 6 7 67 110 15 1 4 8 11 .270 .379 .488 .867
6. 1974 Bill Buckner - .314/.348/.412 2R balance.
13. 2014 Jordan Zimmermann Wash, RH SP 2.66 ERA 1.07 WHIP 182 K 199.2 IP
14. 1922 Reb Russell (yes, that Reb Russell) PIT RF 250 PA, .368/.423/.668 12 HR 75 RBI (prorates to 180 RBI in 600 PA).
15. 1988 Mike Greenwell BOS LF - His best season. 2nd in MVP behind "Juiced" Canseco - .325/22/119 .946 OPS - 87 BBs v. 38 Ks ( Zero strikeouts on card!). Killer v. RHP 4R balance https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/834638/1680/1/80
16.1979 Pete Rose, Phillies, 1B, 163 games, .331 BA, .418 OBP, 15th place in NL MVP vote (clayface9)
17. 1993 Mike Blowers SEA: 3B, 1B.
21. 1954 SP Johnny Antonelli - NYG "Triple Crown" Led K's, W's, and ERA
22. 2012 SS Alcides Escobar- KC Royals- Finally gives KC EXP a SS- AA stealer- 1e20- https://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/p ... 012/1/2012
23. 1974 Buzz Capra, Atlanta Braves, RH SP, Braves, 8R 16-8 2.28 1.138 Career bests in wins, ERA, WHIP, IP, SO, H9, HR9. In a league loaded with great pitchers such as future HOFers Gibson, Seaver, Sutton, Niekro and Carlton and All Stars John, Messersmith, Reuss, Matlack, Koosman, Rogers, Lonborg, Hooton, Dierker, Wilson, Ellis, Nolan, Richard & Marshall, Capra led the league in ERA and H9! No ATG card.

24. 1945 Tommy Holmes Boston Braves DO-47 TR-6 HR-28 RBI-117 AVG-.352 OB%-.420 SL%-.577
RF3e6/LF3e6/CF4e6 Arm -+1
25. 1922 Casey Stengel, NYG, OF, 368 Avg, 436 OBP, 564 Slg, 10 3Bs in 283 Plate Appearances, plus 9 HBP!
26. 2018 Mookie Betts, BSox, 3L RF-1(-4), BA .346, OBP .438 SLG.640 30 SBs run 1-17 https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/91946/2018/1/2018 you want this just like Skywalker's light saber.
27. 1993 Alex Fernandez, White Sox SP 18-9 3.13, WHIP 1.16.. franchise leagues that focus on exp era need more White SOX RHSP..
29. 1935 Billy Rogell, DET, Bats R, E Balance, SS-2e24
LH--2.4 2b, 2.5 3b, 0.6 HR, 15 BB 289/394/390, .784 OPS
RH--2.4 2b, 2.6 3b, 0.6 HR, 19 BB 302/431/407, .838 OPS
Reuschel is another player with 200+ career wins, playing mostly with bad teams, who is deserving of a better card, and the Post War/Expansion Pirates desperately need more starting pitching.
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/840039/1680/1/80
32. 1928 Max Bishop, PHA, 2b-1e18
4.3 2b, 0.4 3b, 0.8 HR, 26 BB 373/530/464, .993 OPS
4.7 2b, 0.4 3b, 1 HR, 26 BB 402/551/507, 1.058 OPS
Bishop was a big contributor for those great A's teams. He should have his best card.
33. 1930 Lou Gehrig NYY 1B
34. 1939 Don Padgett STL C 257ABs, hit .399, OPS 998. Part time catcher/OF. Lefty catcher who spent 4 years in the service during WWII. Let’s give our veterans support! Can’t have enough lefty catchers around to pound RH pitchers. Getting tired of Jack Clements anyways....
35.1913 Vic Saier Cubs 1B He doesn't have a card as of yet. .289/.370/.480 Led the league with 21 triples. He was sixth that year in the MVP race.

YESSSS THATS THE ONE!!!
Hes 2 E 38 -- so the defense is a liability, but that is a better offensive season, so Im guessing folks would want to have that option, yeah?
