Agree about Mantle. $11.5M is tough for a someone who is probably only going to play 2/3 of your games.

Would also add

Johnny Callison
Eddie Yost
Jerry Koosman

Blair and Landis for sure. Almost no one ever uses either guy, for good reason. Bonds almost never seems worth the money to me. Tend to agree that McLain and Bunning are both a bit overpriced, but not ridiculously so. Koosman to me is the most overpriced SP, Sam Jones also comes to mind.

Completely disagree about Marichal and Peters: if you hit 1 of their 3 good years, they are practically bargains, especially Marichal.

Jay Hook. I know he doesn't cost much, but, still is way overvalued by about 67%. Maybe, his purpose on earth is to come into the game, make one pitch, and get out Ray Oyler in the bottom of the seventh when the bases are loaded and you're trailing 12-4. Asking him to do anything else would require a leap of faith.

But, seriously, I'd say Eddie Yost is very overvalued. He's supposed to get all those walks, but, they never seem to happen.

Also, I've never heard anyone say, "I never would have made it to the postseason without Tony Conigliaro. What a bargain!".

Well, Clemente was excellent for me...(as was Mays)
