Grumpy Old Men Keeper League (GOML)Chat_Sup. draft Cuts here

PostFri Mar 17, 2017 1:18 pm

I figured we should have a chat thread for this league.

To start it off I wanted to see how many of us are college basketball fans. While drafting I have been sitting here watching the NCAA Tournament all yesterday and today. I am a die hard Spartan (Michigan State). I was at their Championship game in 2000 and watched Magic doing his thing in 1979. If you do like college ball, who is your team?

Arizona is my team. gotta brag for a minute, of course I'm sure it'll jinx me for today. In my NCAA bracket pool with 30 others I went 15-1 yesterday. don't think I've ever been that hot. Only one I missed was I had Vermont knocking off Purdue.

I'm a very casual basketball fan, but being in Spokane of course I follow the Zags. Could this be the year?

Arizona for me too. I went there for two years out of high school during the Steve Kerr/Sean Elliott Days, but graduated from Nevada. So 1-1 yesterday. I promise never to make any Middle Tennessee references...

If you are referring to me and my love for Michigan State, dont worry. The loss was hard to take last year, but when your team goes to the tournament 20 years in row and is seeded high, a loss like that is bound to happen. I am sure Arizona has a loss like that on its resume, being that they have a great history also. The loss in the round of 8 to Arizona and Sean Elliott back in '02 or '03 (forgot the exact year) hurt a lot more.

yep, WE/Arizona, lost to East Tennessee State in '92 in 1st rd. I went to UA (grad in '94) so it was pretty awful.

I also have soft spot in my heart for the fighting Illini. I went there for 3 years (91-94), but transferred and graduated from Michigan State.

Syracuse fan, born and raised there, been to many a game at the Carrier Dome, saw John Thompson get tossed in the late 80's and been to several of the "largest on campus crowd games" against the likes of Georgetown, Villanova, Duke. etc. Needless to say the tourny has a little less luster for me this year, but it's our own fault, we simply played like crap away from the Dome. 1 or 2 more wins on the road and we'd have been in the dance.
