Help! Card selection?

Player Set: The 70's Game.
80 mil sal cap
no DH

Playing in a friendly 24 team league. I have never drafted in a 70's game. We have a one round player card selection before random draft then serpentine back with ballpark. Rest of draft is auto. I have the first player card selection from set. Which player is normally selected? Thanks (in advance) for the input.

I would suggest Hank Aaron. If catcher is high on your list of priorities, Ted Simmons.

I would also take Schmidt first.

Reggie does go fast. I've 134 seasons of the 70s, not sure i've ever had Reggie
