Games played 159

Going into the last 3 games, three teams still are mathematically alive, albeit a single win by the Reds or a single loss by the Baltimore&Boston club or the St. Kansas club will eliminate them from a miracle finish.

East:

The Montreal Blue Jays led by Generationm1 will finish the season with the best record in the league. The Blue Jays went 16-5 in the past week and now have a record of 99-60 with a run differential of +237. The Blue Jays lead the league in runs scored (896) and have allowed the fewest runs (659).
Burley Norseman and his Baltimore&Boston club went 8-13 for the week and are now 80-79. Burley needs to sweep the Dodgers while the Reds get swept by the Yankees in order to secure the wild card. The San Francisco A’s (RichardGagnon) and California Dodgers (JJB92) continued their tie for 3rd with a record of 73-86. Both went 9-12 for the week.

Central

Drabb9529 and the New York Mets/Yankees continued their hot streak going 14-7 for the week and now have a record of 94-65. They hold a 12 game lead over the Cleveland Reds (BRifas) who went 8-13 for the week and now have a record of 82-77. The Reds need one win or a loss by the Baltimore&Boston club to clinch the wild card. NewGuy1912 and his St. Kansas RoyalCardinals went 9-12 for the week and are hanging on for playoff life at 79-80. They will need to sweep the Phillies and get help from the Dodgers and Yankees to squeeze into the playoffs. The Pittsburgh Phillies (HoustonMetFan) went 11-10 during the week and are now at 74-85.

West

LMBombers and his Milwaukee Twins doubled their lead to 18 games after going 16-5 and are now 90-69. KaiserWill4 and his SeattleDiego Padres/Mariners had a tough week going 7-14 but hung onto 2nd place with a record of 72-87. The Chicago White Cubs (FatDaddy054) went 9-12 for the week and are now 71-88 for the season. Killermarc and his Atlanta Tigers went 11-10 and are now 67-92.

Hitter and pitcher having best season for each team

Montreal Blue Jays

Andre Dawson had an MVP type year—.327/.384/.659. The Hawk delivered 34 doubles, 21 triples and 46 home runs while driving in 143 runs. Gary Carter gets an honorable mention—.328/.411/.611 with 41 doubles, 40 home runs and 141 runs driven in.

Orel Hershiser and Dave Dravecky were acquired in a late season trade with the Dodgers. Orel and Dave combined to go 7-0 with a WHIP of 1.12 in 77 innings. One wonders if they had been acquired even a week earlier if that would have helped propel the club to the playoffs.

Pittsburgh Phillies

Rick Rhoden went 18-11 with an ERA of just 3.27/WHIP of 1.40. Rick pitched 250 innings.

Milwaukee Twins

Cecil Cooper launched 49 home runs and knocked in 137 runs while contributing a slash line of .323/.350/.598 for the division winning club.

Frank Viola went 20-8 after being added to the roster near the end of week 1. Frank had an ERA of 3.96/WHIP of 1.35.

SeattleDiego Padres/Mariners
