One question that often arises is in regards to the number of moves an owner makes during the season. Here's how the owners have managed their rosters so far. The first number is the number of pitchers dropped during the season while the second is the number of hitters dropped thus far.

By far, the least active division, especially regarding hitters.

Re: 2000s--Hit vPitch v Choice-Week 7 results-leaders/team s

The regular season has completed.

The hitters division provided some late season drama. After taking the lead in game 34, JJB92s Mr. Scary club held the lead until game 158 when Fench33s' Beaver Pelts defeated Mr. Scary and took control of the division. The Pelts held a two game lead over Mr. Scary and a three game lead over YCBills' Corked Bats club. The Pelts faced Nol5736s' Whitechapel Werewolves--the Werewolves had the best record of any 4th place team. Mr. Scary, who were on a 5 game losing streak, righted the ship and swept the Corked Bats. The Pelts lost the first two games to the Werewolves and trailed 4-2 going into the 9th inning facing closer JJ Putz. The Pelts rallied, scoring 7 runs winning their 88th game and winning the division based on having a better record against Mr. Scary.

The playoff matchups have Burley Norsemans' My Baseball Ichiro facing wild card JJB92s' Mr. Scary club. Ichiro won 99 games to lead the league and the best run differential at +202. Ichiro won the division by an impressive 23 games. Generationm1s' Premeditated Resentment, a pitching club, won the west with 95 wins and will face the hitter division winning Beaver Pelts.

Playoff update

The matchups consisted of Burley Norseman's My Baseballs Ichiro-from the owner's choice division --with a league best 99 wins and a run differential of +202 facing wild card winner Mr. Scary from the hitters division. Scary won 88 games and had a run differential of +133.

In the other matchup, Generationm1s' Premeditated Resentment-from the pitching division- won 95 games fueled by outstanding pitching allowing just 585 runs and a run differential of +177 faced hitting division champ Fench33s' Beaver Pelts winners of 88 games and a run differential of +97.

Ichiro and Scary split the first two games--each winning by a score of 8-6. Mr. Scary won the next two games taking a 3-1 lead. However, My Baseballs Ichiro won the next two games winning a 12-11 slugfest and an 11-4 rout forcing a game 7. Ichiro sent 20 game winner Jamie Moyer to the mound while Scary called on mid-season acquisition Glendon Rusch. Scary got to Jamie Moyer taking a 7-1 lead after 5 innings. Ichiro rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th taking advantage of an error by Orlando Hudson and a bases clearing 3 run triple from Brian McCann. However, Ichiro could not score again.

The Pelts and Resentment split the first 4 games, alternating wins. Resentment won game 4 with a convincing score of 16-1 behind John Smoltz. Resentment also won game 5---winning 5-4 behind Randy Johnson. The Pelts faced elimination but forced game 7 via a 8-4 win behind their ace, Doug Davis. Game 7 starters were Jake Peavy from Resentment and Dustin Hermanson from the Pelts. The Pelts went into bottom of the 9th clinging to a 3-2 lead. Ray Durham led off the bottom of the 9th by hitting a solo home run forcing extra innings. In the top of the 12th, Luis Castillo led off with a single. After one was out, Juan Castro--playing for an injured Troy Tulowitzki--singled putting men on first and third. David Ortiz came up next and doubled in the tie breaking run. In the 9th, a two out double by Miguel Montero and a wild pitch put the tying run 90 feet away. However, Will Ohman got Brad Hawpe to ground out sending the Beaver Pelts to the finals to face division mate Mr. Scary.

In the finals, the Pelts and Scary split the first 4 games---the Pelts won the opener 10-4 and the third game 15-4 while Scary won 5-1 and 7-5. In pivotal game 5, Scary won behind Glendon Rusch 9-4 setting up a game 6 matchup of Doug Davis for the Pelts and Brad Penny for Scary. Scary scored single runs in the first 3 innings before the Pelts scored two in the sixth to draw to within a run. Scary responded with two runs in the 7th and 8th innings. The Pelts put two runners on the in the 9th but Morgan Ensberg grounded out before Darren Erstad struck out to end the game giving Mr. Scary the championship.

For the season, the hitters division won the season series against both the owners choice and pitchers divisions. The two teams in the finals came from the hitters division so for the 2000 players set, the hitters got the best of the other styles.

Thanks for all of your work involving the league and in providing insights via the weekly update. Although my team didn't do very well, I learned a lot about the game and look forward to future seasons.
