PostSat Nov 05, 2022 12:13 pm

The first 18 games were all intra-division so results of the inter-division are very early.

Hitters vs Pitchers---2-4
Hitters vs Choice-3-3

Choice vs Pitchers-4-2
Choice vs Hitters-3-3

Pitchers vs Hitters 4-2
Pitchers vs Choice 2-4

Who's who in the league and some early highlights...

East--Hitting centric-

Fench33-a 5 times veteran of this theme -started the season by winning 8 games in a row and is currently in first place with a record of 13-8. The Fench led Beaver Pelts have the second best run differential at +36. Ivan Rodriguez and Alex Rios are both off to great starts---Ivan at .321/.361/.667 while Alex is at .358/.442/.654. On the mound, Doug Davis has already contributed 3 wins (3-2) while Ugeth Urbina has 3 saves.

The league held a two player draft before the season started---here's a look back at how the draft went and an update on the players selected.

NewGuy1912--Pedro Martinez Juan Pierre—Well, it looked good on paper. Pedro Martinez was the number one pick of the draft. It’s safe to say Pedro has underperformed—he is 5-9 with an ERA of 5.01 and a WHIP of 1.27—both numbers are much worse than even his worst year. Juan was an interesting pick for the pitching centric club. Like Pedro, Juan has significantly underperformed. Juan is in the top 3 of stolen bases with 21 but his numbers are at .198/.253/.304 after 237 at bats.

--Drabb9529 Alex Rodriquez- Justin Verlander—Alex was the second pick in the draft—.275/.372/.521 with 16 doubles and 14 home runs. Justin was 0-4 with an ERA of 6.56 and a WHIP of 1.84 before being released.

-YCBill - Chase Utley—chipper Jones—Chase was the third pick of the draft——he’s at .248/.352/.509 but has hit 16 home runs. Chipper Jones has contributed 20 home runs along with a slash line of .311/.369/.560.

-Generationm1 Randy Johnson—chris carpenter—Randy Johnson was the 4th pick of the draft—he’s pitched 119 innings and has struck out 159 hitters. His ERA is a stellar 2.35 and WHIP is 1.01. His record is 8-5. Chris is 8-5 with an ERA of 2.35/WHIP of 1.06.

-BurleyNorseman-Barry Bonds—Todd Helton Barry was the 5th pick—he has been leading the league in OPS all season—currently, he is hitting .347/.521/.741. Barry has walked 61 times and has hit 17 home runs. Todd is also contributing to the success of the team—.321/.426/.584. Todd has 16 doubles and 15 home runs. He has driven in 50 runs.

Nol15736 - Albert Pujols—Grady Sizemore—Albert came off the board next—he’s at .325/.412/.625 with 16 home runs and 64 runs batted in. Grady has launched 18 home runs—he’s at .254/.356/.542.

-MGoren5166 - Manny Ramirez—Sammy Sosa—Manny is contributing at a .272/.369/.522 level. Manny has 14 homeruns but interestingly, only 28 runs batted in. Sammy was a disappointment-he was released after 84 plate appearances. Sammy had 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in with a .184/.259/.276 slash line.

-Papavj - Johan Santana—Tim Lincecum—Johan and Tim both have 6 wins—Johan is 6-5 while Tim is 6-7. Johan has an ERA of 2.27/WHIP of .92 while Tim is at 3.65/1.31. Tim has struck to 127 batters—one fewer than Johan’s 128.

-Bigdinkent - Ichiro Suzuki—roy Halladay—Ichiro has delivered a .339/.373/.469 slash line along with 18 stolen bases. Roy is 7-7 with a 3.43 ERA/1.26 WHIP.

JJB92-Vladimir Guerrero-Alfonso Soriano—Vlad is the leading hitter on the highest scoring team. He’s at .385/.435/.766. Vlad has 24 home runs and 67 runs batted in. Alfonso—a surprise pick—has paid off. He leads the league with 25 home runs and a slash line of .266/.333/.602.

Fench33 - Vincent Padilla-Ryan Dempster Fench33—part of the hitting centric division—went with an alternate strategy by picking two pitchers. Vincent is 4-8, allowing 92 hits in 80 innings. He has an ERA of 5.85/WHIP of 1.54. Ryan was granted his unconditional release. He was 5-4 but allowed 86 hits in just 65 innings. He had an ERA of 7.24/WHIP of 1.78.

-Gritch - Juan Gonzalez-Luke Scott-Gritch part of the pitching centric west, went with hitters with his draft picks. Luke Scott is contributing with a slash line of .315/.413/.685–powered by 15 double and 10 home runs. Juan is no longer participating in the season—he produced an anemic slash line of .132/.175/.132 in 40 plate appearances. His 5 hits were all singles.
