Question about reading 80's Ken Griffey Sr card

PostFri May 29, 2020 7:11 am

Recently, Ken Griffey Sr. suffered an injury vs Doug Bair (R) on a groundball that advanced the runner from 2nd to 3rd in the 8th inning ( https://365.strat-o-matic.com/game/playbyplay/447973/107). First base was empty.

Reviewing his five cards (https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/834661/1680/1/80/447973), I have narrowed the years to 1981 [gb(1b)B] or 1982 [gb(2b)A]. Note, however, neither of the results is gbC, which would advanced the runner.

Is this a glitch or SOM 365 Maximum rules tweak for realism?

A long time SOM board gamer but puzzled SOM 365 newbie wants to know. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

In the super-advanced rules (which SOM 365 uses) with a runner on second base only, he advances to third base on a groundball to the right side of the infield:

(15.31) When there are fewer than two outs and a runner on second base only, the runner moves to third on any gb()A or gb()B that is hit to the first baseman or second baseman. The batter is out.

There are other differences from the basic game. For example, a runner on third scores on a gb()A or gb()B to the shortstop or to the second baseman if the infield is playing deep.

Thanks Coyote for clarification!
In the end, I thought perhaps I could narrow down Griffey to a single year but at least I reduced the year down to two choices.
