Pitching Start

PostSat Jun 15, 2019 11:29 am

This situation occurred in a game yesterday evening, and it got me to wondering...

I was the visiting team, and in the first inning, my team puts up some offense so that the pitcher, Bruce Hurst, comes to bat at the end of the inning, and he gets the 2-2 injury roll.

He came to bat, but he never pitched a ball in the game. In real life, would he be credited with a game started in this situation??

No, according to Wikipedia. He must throw at least one pitch. You could say that Hurst should be allowed to pitch as soon as he comes off the injury list even if he is injured three games and normally pitches with four games rest between starts. It would be a "bug" if the game engine does not allow it, since he didn't start the game.
