Bill Buckner 70's Card

PostMon Nov 19, 2018 11:47 pm

I noticed on Buckner's '78 card the left and the right sides of the card are reversed. In the actual '78 season Buckner was significantly better vs RHP than he was vs LHP. Does anyone know if when the game simulates if the card is set up correctly or does it mimic the viewable card we can all see in the system? If the card it actually set up correctly it's an excellent card, if not, it's basically useless.

Why do you say he was significantly better vs RHP in 78?
According to retrosheet he had a 900 OPS vs L but only a 687 OPS against righties. I believe the card performs close to this.
OPS is not the only metric and I am not sure anyone knows exactly how strat determines if someone is 5L or 1L, and I am pretty sure it is not purely based on OPS. Still, under what metric do you think he was not much better against lefties that year? I think you might be looking at the wrong stat line (or I am).

You are correct, I checked my history and I had mistakenly pulled up his '76 splits when I thought I had clicked '78. The '78 card does break out correctly. Thanks for the reply.
