Interesting Trivia

PostThu Aug 02, 2018 5:21 pm

I was doing some research about Ed Spiezio, who was the third baseman for the San Diego Padres during their inaugural season in 1969. ES hit 13 homeruns that season, the most he ever connected for in any one season (followed by 12 during the 1970 season), and 39 for his entire career.

For someone who hit only 39 homeruns in his career, I would have thought that they were likely spread among 39 different pitchers, but that was not the case. He actually connected for 3 home runs off one pitcher later inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The pitcher.. Tom Seaver. That was surprising.

And the batter who hit the most home runs off of Seaver? Rick Monday did it 11 times.
