No Mike Squires

PostWed Aug 23, 2017 12:35 pm

With Rizzo playing 3rd I was thinking about Squires who started a few games at 3rd for the White Sox. Won a Gold Glove at 1B. Disappointed to see he isn't in the 80's set.

I agree 100%. There are quite a few players that should be included in the 80s game that are not. That set has the lowest number of players of any mystery card game by quite a bit. It was SOM's first attempt at the mystery game and they didn't include all the players they should have.

Squires' 79-80-81-82 cards plus either 78 or 83 would make a viable 80s player.

Larry Gura too. He has two cards from the 80's in the 70's set, but not his great season 1981 card.

Good call on Larry Gura. He should be on my list with his 79, 80, 81, 82 & 83 cards.

I'm so in agreement with adding more 80s players. Where does it stand on Strat's priority list. I would play more 80s if the set were bigger

 A few years ago Bernie took my list to SOM management and they decided that updating the 80s game was not on their to do list.

I also campaigned for a pre-60s league. I did all the work of coming up with a list of players from all the rosters from 1941-59. and presented to SOM to choose from. They have told me that they are not interested in a new mystery card game at this time.

Due to less teams in MLB the 50s alone do not give enough players for a game so you would have to use 1945-60 at a minimum.
