Rose or Bonds @ leadoff in 1970's league

Who should I bat lead off at Wrigley? Where should the other bat? Bonds 3rd? Rose 2nd?

Bonds has power and few double plays, so I'd probably bat him 4th. He'll have fewer steals but the 3-run homers are worth it. For the same reasons, I disagree with the Oakland A's strategy of batting Ricky Henderson leadoff - but maybe there was some psychological thing with him batting first. As I recall, Sparky often batted Rose first and Morgan 3rd - he never batted Morgan first despite his incredible stealing ability.

I believe that Rose and Morgan were one of the best 1-2 combos ever (Pre Griffey Sr.). Rose got on base 200+ times a season. With Morgan, Foster, Bench and Perez coming up you did not need Pete to steal or get thrown out trying. If Rose got out and Morgan ends up on first, with the ultra high success rate he had you might want to steal a base with 1 out.

Ricky getting thrown out 30 times with, Henderson, Canseco and McGwire coming up seems like a waste. His numbers always looked like a 3 hitter to me.

OK, I don't have Rose; but I do have Maury Wills/Morgan. Would you bat Wills #1 or #2??

Bonds just doesnt have the obp to take advantage of his speed. He is better hitting 4th or 5th.

Morgan bat 1st. wills bat on the bench.
