I went through my old leagues to see about this. Only DH leagues are included in order to keep it apples to apples (no DH presumably increases the prevalence of platoons even more by providing for a longer bench). Here are the % lefty hitters faced by my starting pitchers at each cap.
Code: Select all
    LHP RHP
 80  34  60
100  36  50
140  45  43
200  32  53

As you can see, my starting pitchers at $140 face the fewest opposite-handed hitters by a fair amount. That seems pretty suggestive of fewer platoons. It makes sense if you think about it. $140 is just enough to spend ~$10 on each full-time player, with no bench and a cheap bullpen. There just are not many platoons that are going to be superior to a $10 regular, the efficient lefty-mashers so prevalent at lower caps are generally just a bit too cheap at $140. I average about one platoon per $140 team whereas at the other caps, normally my entire bench is platoon counterparts. So yeah, folks who dislike the prevalence of platoons should play $140.

Interesting stuff, thanks.
Ha of course if you included your teams then it may skew that data a little bit back to the mean :P

Like I said my observation was my qualitative perception, which may not match up with quantitative data. Indeed looks like it does not in the cases you showed.

On the potential impetus to lobby for a 140M finals cap option, I think that would need to be posed to the board before the season starts, and then announced before event 1, to be fair to all.

But I am just of the admittedly narrow opinion that I don't add any last-minute conceptual headaches for Moose in how he planned the tour out, because really, it is already tons of work that he does and I couldn't imagine the tour being run any better. Especially at the price we pay to retain him.

He takes a holistic view of everything, no matter how minor, and that's awesome.

Oh yeah I'm not advocating for any changes, just making conversation at this point.

What restrictions are there on Stadium usage in the semi-finals? Are we limited to the grouping we did not use for the first 6 Teams/Leagues? Can the same stadium be used by multiple teams or does that change?

No restrictions from this point on choice of stadium grouping.

Except for the finals league which is a live draft including drafting a stadium, so the stadium choices are unique but can be from any of the groups.

Ha, you're welcome Mr Gilbo though I just play it...Mighty Moose and the Barnstormers board lay it all out there for us to enjoy.
But I agree with your sentiment and wish you luck down the stretch!

It appears the 3 remaining playoff teams in the late league are fillers, so by my unofficial reckoning the standings should be final as of tonight

Just glad to make it into the semis after rolling out with a 66 in the first event...
