You should have ranked order voting on all caps. The way it works is to rank league choices from 1 to 5 (60, 80, 100, 140, 200). If no league wins a majority in the first count you drop the lowest ranked league. All those player who chose the league would have their second choice counted in the second round. Still no winner? Do the same thing for the third counting.

It works for Maine it can work for barnstormers too.

Feel free to continue the discussion.
In the past, I've suggested that the 9 with byes select the cap and DH status so that we have an answer in December. With 9 votes, at least there wouldn't be any ties. Maybe next year.

In the meantime,
$80 Mil
If $80 Mil no DH
If $100 Mil no DH
2nd pick.

Not that have a snowballs chance in hell of being one of the three semifinal champions, but why would you need to vote now and not allow the three winners of the seminfinals a vote?

I don't know why we need to vote now.
I'm not looking for a competitive advantage. If everyone knows what cap we will have in the finals, we all have the same competitive advantage. (so there is no advantage)

I'm just expressing an opinion that I don't like the staggered voting.
The first 9 votes come in and then we wait for a few months in limbo before we get the last three votes.
I would prefer to have the everyone vote at the same time. Either 9 people vote now or 12 people vote after we know who are the 12 finalists.

The Final Word

I polled the board of directors and they have decided 3 to 1 for 80 or 100 mil ONLY for the finals. Only MonkeyMaker voted to have the Finals be a vote of ALL CAPS. If you add my vote then we are at 4-1. Of course you are all free to PM any or all of them to give them your opinions. (Reminder, the board is - gkhd11a-MrBaseballWorld-andycummings65-MonkeyMaker)

This is FINAL for the 2020 Tour. Again, most said that "extreme" caps is not an appropriate Barnstormers "Finals" choice. Since there is no more discussion, I will again poll the top 9 and get the vote moving. For the one person I recall who said the last three to come out of the semi-finals dont get a vote - yes they certainly do. The one with the most semi-final wins gets the 10th "draft pick" and a vote - as do the other two.

GaryClausen has been unreachable so far. Ignored all emails for nearly two weeks. If he doesn't respond for confirmation that he is both playing in the finals and will come in and make his vote, he will be removed from the finals. Everyone will move up one and another participant will come from the semi-finals. Not sure why he is suddenly so hard to reach.

It is unusual, but not unprecedented, that a manager would survive the gauntlet of 6 leagues, make it to the Finals as the 4th seed, and then walk away without a peep. But we are in the age of Covid, so old norms often no longer apply.

Although I'm not alone in my belief that there is no urgency to vote on the Finals' format, apparently the beliefs of the finalists matter little.

My suggestion regarding the disappearance of GaryClausen is that if it is imperative that a vote be taken now on the Finals' format, that we skip his vote, but don't yet boot him from the Finals. Perhaps he will reappear with an explanation. In the meantime, the vote and the Semis can proceed. If GaryClausen fails to appear by the time the Semis winners are known, I suggest that he be replaced at that time, and that the next highest point qualifier who didn't win the Semis be added to replace him.

If the BSers board wishes to add further competition and intrigue to the battle to be a potential replacement should GaryClausen not timely appear, perhaps it should consider 10th place finisher Dougess' suggestion made in another thread to a "continuation of the Barnstormers point system with the semifinal managers’ points being reset to 1/5 of their accumulated points. The Barnstormers points earned in the semifinal round would be added to the reset level to determine who advances to the final league. For this year there is a 69 point differential between 10th and 81st which would result in an approximate 14 point lead for manager #10 over #81 to start the semifinal."

Again, while I understand that it's important to some to strictly adhere to the tourney timetable, it is virtually unfathomable that someone would qualify for the Finals and would simply disappear without further contact. The proposal above gives GaryClausen the benefit of the doubt, while at the same time causing no significant delay in completion of the tournament.
