INVITES - one feature being overlooked

A huge benefit of using SOM INVITES to fill leagues is being overlooked, so I feel that a separate thread is warranted.

I'm seeing players jump into a league and then leave the league and then get back in later. Well, aside for there being specifically a Barnstormers Rule AGAINST this, mainly I keep a spreadsheet when I see players enter leagues just so that I can remove you from my list and then you don't get an email later NAGGING you to load you team. So that's the reason for the OFFICIAL RULE. Well that and league hopping. - so NOW …...

What I hear most often is you want to make a tweak to your team and I understand that. BUT - if you joined a league that was created and populated with INVITES, you have the ability - ANYTIME BEFORE THE LEAGUE DRAFTS, to mark yourself as NOT READY FOR THE DRAFT. After you do that - TWEAK AWAY, you can change your Draft List, add and remove players, change your RANKINGS, your STADIUM - ANY OF THAT ! You DO NOT have to LEAVE THE LEAGUE to do that anymore.

Now DONT FORGET that after you make your changes that you still need to mark yourself as READY FOR THE DRAFT otherwise you will delay your fellow players and the draft will never run.

But this is a unique benefit of invites so please use it INSTEAD OF, leaving the league. Thank you.

One thing that maybe is not overlooked is it is much more convenient to just hit "join"--no searching, matching up to select the correct parameters, etc. That is the best part to me.

Yes and another thing people don't realize is that other players may not have prepared for the event AT ALL, meaning they click on the INVITE and it can put an EMPTY team with no picks made into the league. Of course you have to mark yourselves READY and it won't let you do that until you have actually prepared a legal team. I don't know about you but it takes a considerable amount of time to get 25 players added to your DRAFT LIST, RANK them, and pick a stadium.

If you AREN'T taking your time to get your draft list prepared then you don't belong in a tournament like this anyway.

Now if you have been sitting there for two days and you are still marked as NOT READY then this is different. But if are the last one in your league to join, good chance you really are STILL WORKING ON YOUR TEAM.

We have 100 more playing this year than in any other year. A huge amount of those are green newbies who really don't belong here. Believe it or not, I really did question a lot of them who appeared to be playing their FIRST TEAM by asking them were they really SURE they want to do this ?

So what I am implying it that yes there are a lot of players in here this year who ARENT skilled. They DO NOT place an emphasis on loading quickly or spending a lot of time getting their teams ready ahead of time. They aren't all as skilled or impatient as some players here are.

But I will say again that negativity will get your post removed. If you cant accept that the changes (INVITES) will continue on and that may cause some leagues to load a bit slower, you need to make a decision if this is the right place to be. You're always welcome in the Players Championship or the Mystery Card Tour. But, there is no crying on the Barnstormers Tour.

Footnote:

This is 3rd evening after launching the invites on Thursday night. Now fully 3 working days later, the event with 221 active players has loaded 200 of them with 21 still left to load. And this includes fully 4 Live Draft leagues and 13 Autodraft Leagues of which all but 1 have loaded and drafted. This is 90.5% of the players entered for this event.

This is unprecedented and is DIRECTLY a bi-product of the INVITES feature landing a sophisticated email into our mailboxes.

Update: Only 10 left to load this event. At least a few of those will likely be drops.

Ahoy,

I like the invite process - don't know what happened to me this Tourney - almost spaced out time frame for League 5 and totally spaced out the League 6 deadline - my apologies - don't like to be the anchor on the boat. Looking forward to next year's tourney - good luck to you all in the top 45 and better luck to you all sitting at number 46 - 58. I was cruising close to the Mendoza line so my 116 - 46 League 6 team still would not have gotten me too close. Keep rollin' those 1-5s.
