Base Stealing

is *3-8, -(17,16) a good Base Stealing Rating? I know 20-16, 19-15 are excellent but I have not clue about the 17,16? thanks

If you set your team as aggressive you will steal a bunch and get thrown out a bunch. I much prefer a * 19-13 who gets his lead on 2-6,11,12. so he can steal second often but wont get sent to steal third as much. A high second number gets you thrown out at third and home too much for my liking.

what about a conservative base stealing with the player set at Steal More? I'm more curious how the 17,16 performs in that situation?

A completed team, I think Shanks and Wilson fit the bill for what you seek.
Every A and above stealer set to steal more. B's left unchecked. Everyone else don't stea;.
Team settings normal.
Aggressive ends up with too many failed steals of 3rd and home for me.

Good luck.

That’s my default team steal setting. As already stated, that jump range with that success rate is going to be a volume stealer. Your settings should work, though, since it’ll be at “normal” for that player. This should have him stealing with a higher chance at success, though I doubt you’ll see the 83 SBs he actually had.

he stole 1 base last night against IRod but my division is not conducive to base stealing. also he's not surrounded by other stealers so I can't get too aggressive with my settings.

evgrich, Mr. small ball, always strove for AA, 19-15, and 17 running rating. Set to steal more and conservative to cut down on the steal 3B. This doesn’t really answer your question, but it is a tried and true method.

I primarily focus on the first number (19-15, for example). Base Stealing set to conservative.

20 = Steal More
19 = Steal More
18 = Standard
17 = Standard
16 = Standard (this might be a mistake, still experimenting)
15 and lower = Don't steal

16 and 17 get caught somewhat often. 16 I consider acceptable and risky, possibly not worth it on bomber teams. 17 is where it begins to be decent, but still fairly unreliable. Even 18 is not really the best but it is worthwhile. 19-20 is very good.

Oddly, some AAA stealers are imo not actually very effective. For example, 15-12 or something like that, such a player will be caught A LOT.
