Dodgers will have to spread that 700 Million over 25 years to make it work so they pay the rest of the team.
Dodgers must have advertisers lined up for that amount and Manfredi ready to raise salary cap. :o

Basically they're paying him 350 mil to play, the other 350 they'll make back just on his name. They still need at least two starting pitchers and a 3bman. We'll see how it plays out, but that's way more money than I would spend on a DH

My team does a lot of dumb things, but I'm glad that contract ain't one of them.

I think they can fill 3b internally if they want with Vargas or possibly Busch. Justin turner is a free agent again maybe he comes back. And I’m sure filling a few sp spots with cheap options will be the direction they go there. They have a few starters in aa and aaa that could fill a void also. Gavin Stone was held in high standings before struggling last season. Will be interesting to see what way they choose to go

Oh yeah, they still have a lot of arms, but almost all of them come with question marks. They need a couple of inning eaters.

To be the contrarian amid the Ohtani euphoria -- and admittedly biased as a Giants fan :) -- I think Ohtani's best years are already behind him.

He's 29 and will be 30 on July 5, 2024 -- data shows peak is usually 27-28, give or take. "Hitters peak in batting and slugging average at 28 while continuing to improve in their home-run hitting and walking abilities until 30 and 32." See: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news ... 27-theory/ ... I would say the same about the Aaron Judge contract the Yanks gave that 30-year-old last year, best days have already passed, perhaps a couple more good seasons, then Father Time takes over and you're paying for 6-7 declining seasons ... YIKES

He's a DH, no defensive value whatsoever. At least Ruth played the outfield in the brief time he was a two-way player.

Two Tommy John surgeries already. Let's see how the pitching goes. If that doesn't work out, the Dodgers are paying $700M/10 years for a DH.

I'd rather have Juan Soto, age 25 and plays almost every game.

I would have said the same thing 2 years ago. Now I find myself wondering if Soto will ever grow up. He is VERY immature for age 25. We'll see what the Yankees can do with him. Has to be better than his S.D. years
