Glitch

PostFri Jun 24, 2022 6:39 am

Ok now i found a real bonavide glitch. Seen this before but can't remember which player. Skip Schumaker pitch hits in the 8th against a right hand pitcher and rolls 3-5 which is a nice Double. Nope is recorded as an out to first base which actually is the same as the roll 1-5. Never noticed that before as Skip has been a go to guy sub for a long time for me and many others. So I take that as a new event as I probably would of noticed it.

I was thinking it was some kind of "guarding the line" black box rule. However, the normal roll is a double to left field and the ground out was to first base, not third base. So is there some black box hitter rule???? Was he trying to drag bunt for a hit or something?

You've stumped me. I can't make out how any of the operative max rules would've produced that result.

I think it was guarding lines and the program is just not recognizing that the double would have been to left. It simply assigned it to 1B.

Guarding lines is part of Doubles/Triples Effects, which is listed as inoperative.

This is the only possibility I can come up with but he's a D bunter with a large platoon advantage, seems farfetched that HAL would try for the bunt base hit. Furthermore, I don't see why any dice roll would be listed if he'd been bunting for a hit, as it involves no dice. But I've never actually seen bunting for a hit displayed in the play-by-play, has anyone else?

I would suggest emailing this result to SOM's "Contact Us" link, and asking for an explanation. If they can't explain it, maybe it was a real glitch and HAL owes you some recompense. ;)

Does anyone else have a game where a 3-5 was rolled. Simplest explanation is the card displayed is not what they are using for the actual results. Would seem it is possible that he also was trying to bunt for a base hit as that rule is on, and he was leading off the ninth with noone on base, which is requirement for bunting for a base hit. Was he set to do not bunt?

So found another game with the 3-5 and he did have a double so the game data appears to be loaded correctly, therefore the only explanation seems to be bunting for a hit, begging question if he is marked do not bunt, if he is it would seem this is a "glitch"

I think it's unlikely a D bunter would attempt to bunt for a hit. That leaves the guarding the lines play as the best possible explanation.
