favorite cap?

PostThu Dec 16, 2021 3:57 am

I've really been enjoying $140 lately. Stars at every position but you can't afford a ridiculous bench like in $200, and 2nd-tier guys are viable that don't see much use at other caps. The drafts aren't insanely difficult like $200, but difficult enough that you generally have to improvise a bit to get your team together, producing more variety than lower caps where it's easy to draft almost all your guys. All the caps have their charms, though. Which is your favorite?

Call me stubborn, old fashioned or afraid of change, but I still like $80 million.

It's the cap around which the game and the player prices were originally designed and I think it creates the proper balance of hitting & pitching without skewing stats ridiculously bad.

My favorite cap is $140 mil, which is the cap in this league:

Player Set: ATG 8, post-WW2
Skill Level: Advanced
Draft type: Auto List Draft
Salary Cap: $140,000,000
FA Drop Penalty: 5/10/20% [?] DH Rule: yes
Waivers: yes
Postseason Format: 2 rounds: Best-of-7, Best-of-7
Opening Day: 3 days after draft
Managers may own multiple teams: no

Description:
Era and cap size make this a fun ATG league.

I agree about the 80m cap works perfectly- I am also good anywhere between 60-100m

Just finished a $72M cap @RiggoDrill set up. Found it a nice change of pace in ATG9 having 1 less superstar. Kept stats a little more realistic. Had to make some tough decisions.

post script---i've never been in a league without waivers. but is there really a need for a waiver period in ATG sets? there's so many players in the pool. this just adds an additional deadline i need to worry about. NO Waivers on ATG!
