Trivia question

PostWed Jul 03, 2019 11:38 pm

Two teams have gone an entire season without being shut out, one NL team and one AL team. Name them.

There was one other team that almost made it, getting shut out in the last game of the season (I guess they were anxious to get home since the team failed to make the postseason). Can you name it?

Very good, that's correct.

Any guesses for the team that almost made it?

79 Brewers, who started mostly scrubs against Jerry Koosman and the Twins on the road. They caught Buck Martinez instead of Charlie Moore, Ray Fosse at 1B instead of Cecil Cooper, Jim Gantner at 3B instead of Sal Bando, Lenn Sakata at 2B instead of Paul Molitor, and Dick Davis and Jim Wohlford in the corner OF spots instead of Lezcano and Oglivie. Davis was their regular DH, they gave that job to Don Money. So only Robin Yount and Gorman Thomas were in their normal spots.

They banged out 6 singles, 2 doubles, and a triple and drew 1 walk, but still failed to score as they made 2 outs on the bases and Davis grounded into a double play.
