The idea is that we each, in order, get to enhance the rules. The key is no rule can negate a prior rule. Succesive rules can only enhance/clarify prior rules and/or reduce the player pool.

Each rule should be one feature. This is hard to state, but the idea is that you should not state a rule that is really two rules.

This takes work because we all need to pay attention and ensure, after each new rule, that (1) the new rule did not in any way negate a prior rule and (2) the new rule has not reduced the player pool in a way that makes it nearly impossible for all 12 of us to field a valid team.

I am going to start by setting the salary cap to $200MM and state that we will default to a DH and 5% free agent costs and no unique stadiums. I assume that these can be changed by someone in their rule.

After the signup, we will run random numbers to determine the RULES "SHIFTING" order. After which we will hold an autodraft for the remaining players. If not too complicated (RIGHT!) we can possibly ask TSN to create a special subset.

Sounds like a great one, I'm in. But I do have a question...if someone's rule changes the salary cap, can it be changed again by a subsequent rule? If I understood your thinking, salary cap, DH etc can be changed, but then subsequent rules couldn't change it again.

I'd rather not touch the cap at all honestly. If you want to move the cap then make a rule that changes the limits the ROSTER value.

Examples:

Initial Salary Cap: $200,000,00
Total current value: XXXX,XXXX,XXX
Roster value: XXX.XXX.XXX

What often happens is someone will inevitably create a rule that makes you cut players or lower your roster values at a given point in the season and then another rule where can buy back in later.....playing with the cap, I think, is where I've found causes a league to go from fun to a horror show.

If others have a strong feelings about lowering the CAP, I'd like to set that before we start.
