New cards

PostFri Feb 05, 2016 12:30 am

I looked at all of the cards today as many of you probably have. All four of the pitcher cards are what I would expect as well as most of the hitting cards. However some of the hitting cards just seem over the top. The George Kell card for instance looks like he is hitting .400 for example. There are others but I just wonder what other people think. Opinions?

It has been so long I no longer remember who all the new cards belonged to. Have they been added to the set?

I checked out some of them, Staub, Koufax, Alomar, O.Cabrera, Vizquel, Kell. I like Staub and Omar.

"Useless" cards IMHO...

Cunningham (DH): Like there aren't enough guys that can DH in ATG...
Evans: 13.25 hit chances vs. RH's?
Sewell: See Cunningham PLUS his other cards are cheaper and still perform...
Staub: Again, see Cunningham. Now Montreal has 25 RF's...
Tejada: Not his best card defensively. His A's cards help the A's. Won't play for the O's with Ripken in theme leagues.
Easter: SMFH... DH
Gehringer: Lots of 2B's, no doubt is nice. But is it a HUGE upgrade for the Tigers?

Another reason why we need cards added every couple of months.. :?

This is why they just need to focus on adding teams - next card addition how about a vote for the all-time Marlins team? Or the all-time Rays team? Zobrist is a good start.

There are a couple of other interesting cards in the set. Clift and Burks are totally deserving of their salaries. And all the pitchers except Hershiser will quickly become fixtures in $200 MM leagues, Hershiser is left out only because his new card isn't really better at enough things than the big card we already have.

And Cunningham is a very nice $80 MM small ball 1B. Javi Lopez is a very nice offense-first C. The whole batch of new SS's all have their pluses for capped leagues.

This was my general impression. And again, 2 HUGE HUGE problems- and a medium one.

1) we can't see most of the cards until after the fact

2) they come so sporadically (last addition August to this one February) -- I guess when they said every couple of months they meant to say bi-annually.

3)between announcement and occurance Ive almost lost complete interest.

I agree with rburgh. Add some teams, expansion teams in particular. I'm still waiting for my Dontrelle Willis card. Hey I like control pitchers who don't guve up a lot of homers but can hit homers.
