JIMMY ROLLINS

PostFri Sep 27, 2013 1:18 pm

Anyone have success with him? I am in a 100 mil league and am in Sportsman 20. He started gang busters for me going 7 for 17 (2-2B, 1-3B, 2-HR) but now he has gone 1 for 35 in the last 8 games. I don't think I have any player go 1 for 35 at a stretch. I fear he is another Joe Morgan. Looks good on paper but can't produce.

I am using him in 80m league. Low Avg and OBP but a high percentage of his hits are extra base hits. When I look at his Avg and OBP for 7.43, I say not worth it.

But he has a lot of other upsides: Defensive range, few errors, base-running speed, base-stealing, switch hitting and mega low injury.

I haven't played long enough to have a confident assessment of him. But it seems he can be a nice supplementary piece of a team.

For me he is batting 262, OBP is 295 and SLG is 460 for me at the end of a season. 20 Doubles 15 Triples and 26 HRS.
20 Stolen bases in 24 attempts.

I used him in the first ATG7 league I played ($80M) in Petco. He was pretty disappointing for the price, except maybe the triples and the low errors.

IMO, he has a 3.75 mill card, and your paying the other 3.75 mil for zero injuries, low errors, and a 1 range at a critical defensive position.

If your looking for a speedy, defensive SS, that cannot get injured, freeing up a roster spot for a platoon, or in a non-DH league, a roster spot for a pinch hitter...

He's your man.

If your expecting him to hit his card, against the best pitchers in baseball, ever....

Don't hold your breath.

A clear, classic example of you get what you pay for.
