The one remaining name is, it is true, a player that flies below the radar nowadays. In his rookie season this player became -- at the time -- the youngest non-pitcher to bat in an all-star game (he was also a three-time all-star throughout his career). The season that interests us is an outlier in his career. Without this season, this 11-year veteran would have averaged about 12 or 13 homers per season and about 28 strikeouts. Mostly a right-fielder, he played for four clubs, though more than half of his at-bats came with one club. He never played in the post-season, which may account for his relative anonymity. He was traded by his original club (the one with the most at-bats) and within two years, his old club was in the World Series aided greatly by the players he had been traded for. In the year we are considering, he was batting 5th (he seems to have normally been the consumate 6th place hitter) behind one of the other names you already found. Yes, there were two players on the same team in the same season to have at least thirty homeruns and fewer strikeouts than homeruns.

Who is the last name on the list?

Ah, but he is...twice even. Just not this particular year. We have the year after. Decent arm in rightfield. Probably used in 60mil or a platoon in 80mil. The other is as a 50c scrub...but oh that obp. (that's a big hint) The year in question might be an interesting addition.

Ok, I narrowed down the horrible scrubs from that time period. One was Lee Gamble -who never a homerun. the other is the answer-Willard Marshall. oh that guy, of course.
