Courting .400

PostSun Jan 10, 2021 10:42 am

Just had my first .400 hitter after 80 teams ... George Sisler’s $11m card in Petco.

I’d never had anyone hit even .380 before. Do any of you actively shoot for .400? Do you aim to create conditions where it’s likely to happen? How often are you successful?

.400 batting average against All-Time Great pitching and fielding is very impressive, especially in Petco 2005.

There have been several other .400 seasons, particularly for Ty Cobb (1912): https://stratomatic365.fandom.com/wiki/ ... ng_Average

Oh for sure, they happen often enough ... nothing more than a silver in the trophy case. Just don’t remember anyone talking about it.

Pretty common actually. My best is .430 Delehanty 1894. The one that has eluded me is a 30 game winner closest I have come is 29

I had a .428 from Ted Williams (1941) way back.

A .400 hitter in 20XX would be very impressive...

Ichiro came close in the 2004 game. I bet some team had a 2004 Ichiro that averaged .400.

No one else has really come close among those who have reported.

Here was my attempt way back in ATG VI, and it seems it's still the record holder for team batting average with an 80 million cap. Cobb hit .434, and both Terry and Gwynn were over .390. I didn't win anything but it was a lot of fun to follow. As an interesting side note, I used Dixie Howell as a low budget super reliever with some success.
