My 100 win teams have lost 7 consecutive first round playoffs. That's more than bad luck.

Assuming Strat's Archives are correct here is my history with 100 win teams:

28 teams with 100 or more wins

9 Rings
4 Finals Losses
14 Semi Finals Losses
1 Quarter Finals Loss

So my 100 win teams have won a ring less than 1/3 of the time. And they have advanced to the finals less than 1/2 the time.

Assuming generally speaking that your 100+ win team is likely the best team in the league, I think it's reasonable to expect a ring at least 50% of the time. So yeah, I'm sticking with my 100 win curse belief until I get closer to that 50% number.

I posted this when the discussion came up last year, but here are my updated stats on 100 win teams

Using only my ATG teams, I have had 12 teams get to 100 wins.

7 won the finals (58%)
3 lost the finals (and once to another 100 win team) (25%)
1 lost in the Semis (8%)
1 lost in the quarterfinals in a 24 team league (8%) (interestingly, this team had 100 wins but was a wildcard and finished 9 games back in the division :o )

my 100 win ATG teams have made the finals 83% of the time, and taken the title 64% of the time. Not a curse for me.

I think you've probably done better than the norm, but that 50% ring number is something I would think should be reasonable for a 100 win team.

Twenty three 100 win teams, 10 semi-finals losses, two finals losses, and 11 rings. Surprised that almost half get beat in the semi's but my luck in the finals has been extremely good.

FWIW:

In MLB there have been 115 100-Win teams since the World Series began in 1903. In 1904 a 100-Win team, the Giants, refused to play Boston in the series. In 1994 there were no playoffs due to the strike. There was only one post-season series up to 1969. Of these 100-Win teams, only 37 won the World Series. Source: Baseball Almanac.

8 100-win teams (seven were 12-team leagues, one was a 24-team league)
3 champs
3 lost finals
1 lost semis
1 lost quarters

Total W/L was 35-33

Look lets put the nail in this discussion. If your 100 win teams are winning titles 33 percent of the time that is pretty good. You have a 25 percent chance overall of winning a title. It may not be up to your expectations but certainly not a curse. I have learned to lower my expectations, and just enjoy the wins and move on from the losses.
