6 seasons as a 1.
He regressed to a 3?
Agreed. He has a career .700 OPS. This year .956! What a great card he would have had with a 1. The 3 and his injury roll will knock a few $M off his card.

He played a lot at DH this year and his defensive metrics for the innings he played at short were bad. He was also removed for defense late in games when he did play SS. He probably should be a 4.

I think Strat gives out too many 1's. It used to be something special to get a 1 but now it seems that 20-30% of the SS's get a rating equivalent to the best in the game.

8/53 (primary position ss) 15%
8/126 (all players who were rated at SS) 6%
now in a 12 or 24 team league all 8 of the ones will be owned .....

I am glad to see Jean Segura respected again.
Jose Ramirez should be a 1 at 3B. I know Geo Urshela has good range but Ramirez is better.
It seems like guys jump up to a 1 or 2 coincidently in the same year that they are killing it offensively, and possibly vice versa when they don't hit they get the downgrade. It's a little too video game Jon Madden-esque for me. Strat-O-Matic should be more nuanced and less hype than those video games.
And if Jose Iglesias should be a 3 or even a 4 like someone mentioned, should he really have been a 1 last year??
Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think so...?

Strat-O-Matic gives out more 1s than decades ago because the fielding is much better than it was in decades past.
Just like NFL QB play is much better than ever,so too are baseball players.

Carlos Correa is a 1 at SS? Does anyone really believe his range is that good?... I am genuinely asking, because I don't know, but it seems unlikely. He is a large man with not the greatest speed. Is his intuition and range really that good?
Is Correa's range really as good as Mondesi and better than Trea Turner?
I am not even sure his range is better than Jose Altuve's range. Is it that much better?

Correa had his best season as far as Defensive Runs Saved which I would guess Strat uses for their defensive ratings. So based on that, yes he deserves a 1 rating. But you may be right about his limited range because if you use the the Outs Above Average stat that is now available using Statcast, Correa recorded 0 OAA last year which is as average as you can get.
