New Summer draft league, with a franchise-themed twist.

Each year we play with the latest unleashed set. (2018 unleashed for the inaugural, summer 2019 season)

AL and NL will each be a separate 12 team Strat365 league, with real-life divisional assignments

There will be separate drafts for each league, exclusively from players carded in that league.

AL will be DH, NL will not. Each league has its own playoffs and the winners play in the World Series.*

We'll play one season each summer.

Due to limitations in the Strat365 game engine, AL and NL will be run as two separate 12 team leagues. This is the only way to play DH in AL and no DH in NL. As a result, there will be no inter-league play. We'll run the two leagues simultaneously. *

Owners are welcome to have 2 teams, one in each league, but can take just one if they wish. If you have two, your two teams will not be permitted to trade with one another.

Teams will be based on real MLB franchises and identified as such...i.e. if you’re the Pittsburgh Pirates, that’s what you call your team, and you play in PNC Park. The league will be populated with 4 franchises from each MLB division. Teams will reside in their real life divisions. Keep your franchise in future years. Exactly 4 franchises must be selected from each division!

We will choose franchises in the same way Strat's Auto Draft works. once we're full, all owners will send the commish a list of your three preferred franchises, in order of preference. If you're the only one who chooses your first choice, that team will be yours. If someone else also lists that franchise as their first choice, the randomizer run will determine priority, and you may get your second choice, unless it was someone else's first choice, and so on. It's possible that a couple guys won't get any of their three, they'll choose in real time at the end of franchise selection if applicable.

Before the drafts, each team will protect 6 "franchise players" - choose any 6 players carded to your franchise in the applicable card set.

All remaining players, franchise affiliated or not, then go into the free agent pool and we draft to 33 man rosters. To be eligible for the draft, players must be carded to a team in the applicable league in the most recent unleashed set.

The Free Agent draft will be in reverse order of previous season real life winning % of each franchise. In rounds 12-on of the inaugural Free Agent draft, we pick 2 players per team per round.

Equalization: Franchises with real-life losing records get additional early draft picks!

.575/.425 Equalization Rule: Any team(s) with a previous season real-life winning percentage of under .425 get a second pick in each of the first two rounds, immediately before any teams with a real-life winning percentage over .575. "Sub-.425" teams will only get one pick in the each the first and last two-pick round of their draft. Applies to the draft in all years.

.550/.450 Equalization Rule: Any team(s) with a previous season real-life winning percentage of between .425 and .450 gets a second pick in each the second and third rounds, immediately before any teams with a real-life winning percentage over .550. ".450" teams will only get one pick in each the first and last two-pick round of their draft. Applies to the draft in all years.

.475 Equalization Rule: Any team(s) with a previous season real-life winning percentage of between .450 and .475 gets a second pick at the end of the third round. ".475" teams will only get one pick in the first two-pick round of any draft. Applies to the draft in all years.

.499 Equalization Rule: Any team(s) with a previous season real-life winning percentage of between .475 and .499 gets a second pick at the end of the fourth round. ".499" teams will only get one pick in the first two-pick round of any draft. Applies to the draft in all years.

Usage Limits: Let’s get Real

Usage limits will be in effect. No position player may be used for more than his actual AB's prior to game 127. No pitcher may be used for more than his actual IP prior to game 127. If a player reaches his limit before game 127 he must be removed from the MLB roster immediately and for the remainder of the season. If a player passes the test at game 127, he can play as much as you want for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

Keeper and Re-Draft Rules - Before Each Subsequent Season - This is where things get REAL interesting.

1.(a) Exercise Franchise Rights - Re-pick 6 players from your franchise. This can include players who played as free agents for other teams in our previous sim season.
1.(b) Compensation Draft - If you lose one or more free agents in 1(a) then for each FA you lose, you are entitled to ONE compensation pick from the franchise which took your FA; take any player carded to that franchise outside of the 6 the team protected in 1(a). Strat player salaries of “lost FA's” determine priority if more than one team is claiming from the same franchise. This selection can be across leagues.
2. Keep 6 of your remaining free agents as keepers. Players you gained in 1(b) count against your 6 free agent keepers if you "keep" them. If any of your FA's change leagues from one season to the next, provided he doesn't get claimed as a franchise player by his new team in 1(a), you CAN keep him indefinitely. If you don't keep him, he'll go into the draft pool in his new league.
3. All remaining players go into the AL/NL pool(s) and in each league we re-draft back to 33 players. Each league’s draft is in opposite order of previous season real life winning % of each franchise. Rounds 6-on, pick 2 players per team per round.

Trades are not just permitted, they’re encouraged. Trade franchise players (franchise rights go along with a franchise player), trade free agents, trade draft picks.

Franchise rights trump all others at the beginning of each season. If you trade for another team’s franchise player, you own those franchise rights as long as that player stays on that real life team. That means you can keep that player as one of your 6 franchise players in future seasons. You always only have 6 franchise player slots on your roster. If you have a free agent on your team and you’re afraid to lose him to the team that has franchise rights, you can try to trade for those rights. If a free agent plays for one of the 6 non-league franchises, you don’t have to worry about losing him as another team’s franchise pick!

Spring Franchise Swap - If the previous season combined total of wins between your sim team and your real life franchise is under 146, you have the option to swap your team for the unclaimed team in your division, lowest win total first. If two owners want to swap teams for any reason, this is permitted. All free agent rights would go along in the franchise swap as well.

* The NL and AL Champions will have the opportunity to play the World Series head-to-head using Dynasty League Baseball Online, winning managers can choose to either manage their team or use a proxy.
