I think it may be that these relievers who were never supposed to be starters in the first place are coded in the game as reliever. They are being subjected to the same parameters as when your SP's get injured and a pure reliever is pressed into making a start.

I'm pretty sure they put in new code for the S4 starter to make sure they don't go 6+ innings ever, probably no more than 5. That code was somehow turned on for all pitchers at the beginning, which is why we saw the wonky stuff at first. They fixed it just for S4 pitchers.

They don't want anyone getting this innings from them.

I do have "aggressive bullpen" settings on the the Team strategy page. Perhaps a conservative bullpen will slow the process, but I doubt. I think Radagast Brown is on something.

I changed my settings to conservative, and Cole/Strahm et al... still go 4-5 innings and get yanked @ F9

Some of the pitcher settings are almost meaningless now, in both pitchers prefs and team strategy.

I don't mind them changing rules to modernize the actual games whimp pitch counts these days-- IF-- #1 they the let us know--and #2, they don't mess with leagues that have started already, #2 should have NEVER happened.

In the League I am in we have had 20+ Complete games. We have played 24 games. I have had no issues with my pitchers so far. Seems to be just like last year. You are getting hammered and you get pulled. I have been following this subject closely because I have many Keeper Leagues. I just haven't seen a problem. I am however drafting RP to compensate.

chasenally...

I've been playing this online game for a long time.

Let me make this perfectly clear...

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A STARTING PITCHER PULLED @ F9.
THESE F4 GUYS, IMHO, ARE CODED DIFFERENTLY.
THEY ARE NOT GETTING PULLED BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING SHELLED.
AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT'S THE OPPOSITE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM MY ABOVE LINK.
(Strahm was throwing a no-hitter)

Strat either is NOT aware of the code problem OR they are aware and won't take the time to correct it.

Those guys can only be used as pure relievers now. They were priced as relievers and coded as relievers. Strat made a mistake by leaving the S4 rating on 5 or 6 of them. That has been corrected. If you start a team now, you CANNOT EVEN HAVE STRAHM as a starter.

Well that's BS.

Then let us drop to 10 pitchers and 24 people LIKE EVERY OTHER SET.

No reason to remove the S4, or artificially limit them. It's really an injustice to the way current baseball is. This whole year is just one F**kup after another. I think I'm done with this set already.

Oiy. Old men who can't deal with change... Happy trails Geeky! I love the new rules because they are much more realistic.

Great job SOM!

Here is something I found. 5 of 7 batters got a hit and the 6th walked. That's 6 out of 7 batters in a row reaching base. My Pitcher was still F9. If there is a problem it is in the Fatigue of the pitcher. Taillon never had his fatigue dropped and it should have. Maybe the problem is we don't see it drop but HAL does. Really not interested in a pissing match here but clearly Taillon should have dropped quickly and he didn't. He gave up enough runs that he should have been taken out as I had a 6 run lead going into that inning. HAL replaced him when I was up by 2.
