I've got you beat...I have a file somewhere that has an entire grid for 8 segregations of BA (e.g. <.200 - .214, .215 - .229, etc) and a <> 20 HR's separator. I calculated the appropriate dice results for all 16 columns that arrive at reasonable AVG/OBP/SLG lines, and I also wrote a script for a "dice roll" in excel. So you can play a game in Excel with various batting attributes in your lineup and work your way through the charts for the outcome of each at-bat.

It was all based on my personal improvements to this game: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/268 ... -star-game which I grew up playing with my baseball cards.

Haha! So did I Fred! The creator of the game cane to our local mall, and we got to play him in a 5 inning game (we pick the teams)...if we beat him we’d win a free Longball game. It was the 1978 season, I took the Red Sox and made him be the Mets. I won! Loved that game!

My uncle taught me a baseball dice game 50 plus years ago.
2-double
3-triple
4-out
5-out and if applicable double play (lead runner out)
6-out
7-single
8-out
9-out
10 by 6 and 4 -out
10 by 5 and 5 -walk
11-single
12-homerun

as a kid I had a game challenge the Yankees when I wasn't playing the game I used to play Mickey Mantle's card vs a superstar card from the other team with a pair of dice.

Mantle's card
2 line out
3 home run
4 ground out
5 strike out
6 fly out
7 single
8 walk
9 ground out
10 strike out
11 double
12 foul out
don't remember the other card but it was good lol

Can anyone recommend a baseball based board game suitable for kids about 7 or 8 years old?

The most popular baseball game in the hobby, is Baseball Highlights 2045. I've never played it with kids, so I'm not sure on that subject. If they just know general baseball (what is a double, how runners move) they'd probably be ok. Personally I love it to death. It plays so differently that strato, I happy to play both. A buddy and me will often mix in baseball highlights 2045 inbetween playing strato series.

There is lots of reviews for it.

This game, which uses magnets for pitching, is also excellent:

Wow, and to think we thought we invented that. Remember life before the web?
A group of us were playing that in school one day and one of the teacher's asked, "Have you guys ever heard of Strato?" We got so excited by what he told us that we went and scavaged our hometown (of 300,000 people) and the only game we could find was one I think from 1982, a decade earlier but we bought it and played various seasons from that game for a year until one of the kids convinced his parents to use their credit card and buy the updated version. Before Strato, not only did our guys bat .343 (or something like that), we routinely had pitchers leading the league in offensive categories.
