PassRecvp?

PostWed Jun 17, 2020 12:19 am

I see this in the play by play.
PassRecvp
What does it mean?
Under what circumstances does it occur?

I have a couple results with some wording I do not understand, either. Is there a list on the website that explains the play results?

OK, I waited 6 months for someone else to answer. I guess it's time for me to take a shot at it.

You selected a long pass.
The first die roll decides if it is a sack or not. Reggie White couldn't get by Winston Hill so the play proceeds with the ball being thrown by the QB.
At this point there are three options where to find the result- Defensive card, Quarterback card or Receiver card
I will guess that PassRecvp means that the final result is found on Tommy McDonald's card since he is the PASS RECeiVer.

No idea why there is a "p" at the end.

Still wish I knew what this means.
Always a big play, thought maybe it had to do with a vacated zone,or a safety blitz, but that can't be as he was DBL Teamed.
Dubenion doesn't have a 36 yd gain in the long pass section of his receiver card.(36 yd Long Gain?)
Have written Strat on multiple occasions and never got an answer.

PLAY:

2-12 VIR 31 (12:01) Long Pass (Pro Set) [D: Nickel 4-2-5, Pass]
DTer Andre Tippett (LLB): Good Play
PassRecvp
Pass Elbert Dubenion (FL): 36 yards
Tackle Lester Hayes (LCB)

I think laboratory's answer is probably correct.

I believe some pass plays where the result is on the defense end up with a roll on the receiver's card. In this case, you probably got a LG long gain result on Dubenion's card.

I only see Passrcvp about once every 3 games or so.

Thanks to Laboratory, and Whoopycat for taking a swing at this.
I think I may have figured it out.

One of the receiver entries on the defensive card has a sniper scope symbol, which results in a long gain if any safety lines up in a blitz zone, which , whether he actually blitzes or not, results in a Long Gain.

This can happen even in a dbl team situation since a Dbl teaming LB DOES NOT move into the zone where the pass is thrown.

Consequently, the result is read from the 3 men (short pass), or 1 man (Long Pass) columns, making such Receiver reading possible.

This would explian why the gain doesn't line up with a result on the receivers card, since it came from the Long Gain Chart.
