Great control of the game
Tons of Stats
Very realistic
Just like playing table top Strat

This from a coach who has not won a game yet!!

Chris Franco and I are using the Stratomatic play by email program to replay the entire 1971 season. He is in South Carolina me in Pennsylvania. We have now completed week one. Even though I am only 4-8-1 its been a blast!! :D We are using the super advanced rules. This renders a bit more control to the dice but adds to the realism. The statistics program is great.Game takes about an hour and a half. The old face to face Stratomatic experience lives!!!

As part of their football program Strat has a way of setting up email leagues, Chris knows way more about the nuts and bolts but basically one player sets up a league with from 2 to 13 coaches who play the actual games via email, Chris and I are also on the phone to kibitz with each other as we play the games. The program keeps per game stats and also running stats for each team and the league as a whole.

Email is actually a bit of a misnomer as though its over the internet play is in real time.

We are now into week 3 of the 1971 season. Good teams are rising to the top poor ones to the bottom. Chris still dominates over all although I am coaching better, alas so is he.8>( We play at least once a week but occasionally more.

Our next game (1971 season) is New Orleans vs Houston. Historically it was a 13-13 tie. Houston was 4-9-1 and New Orleans was 4-8-2, Chris will have Houston.

My Saints managed to prevail over Houston 17-7. Houston was done in by the poor performance of Mark Mosely who was 0-5 in field goal attempts including a chip shot from 7 yards out. Houston outgained New Orleans 354-250 but could not close the deal until the last few seconds of the game when they scored their touch down on a 1 yard run by Woody Campbell. The Saints two touchdowns came on a 4 yard run by Tony Baker and a fantastic interception return of 90 yards off a flat pass, Richard Neal was the hero.

Charley Johnson threw for 240 Yards while Archie Manning was a solid 13-19 for 133 yards. Leading gainer was Tank Holmes of the Oilers with 46 Yards. This was Houstons first loss they are 2-1 while New Orleans is also 2-1

Where is the info on this head to head? we are playing a 1 on 1 game with board version now. AT halftime you switch teams so it takes the cards out of the equation and only dice and skill prevail. Would like to hear more about this type of game play.
