I know that we all have our favorites, players who fill certain places of nostalgia within us...but absolutely no love for Charlie Chech?...what seems to be the second best starting pitcher in the poll, a nice 5-day starter (and reliever)...oh well..

Speaking strictly for myself, he's a bit too obscure. He only pitched 4 seasons in MLB with 33 wins, and wasn't on any pennant winning teams. I'd rather see Monte Ward's or Kid Gleason's pitching cards get voted in, as far as the old-timers go.

I understand and respect your argument Bill, and I know that you are not the only one here who holds that view. I guess that I am a bit more "inclusive" in my choices. I am intrigued by the footnotes of the game, those what ifs and if onlys. Many of the ballplayers we grew up with will be forgotten in a century's time; a strat player in 1909 (hey we are all fans of uchronia here) would have clammored to have had Chech in the game. We have that great Harry Krause season and yet he only played five seasons. Both he and Chech had long minor league careers after short major league ones.
Anyway, just to say that, for those interested in the minutia of the history of the game, Chech would be a worthy addition. But I get it if he falls short.

As for me. I voted for the MVPs because I think every MVP and CY season should be carded out of principal Beyond that I cast votes for players that were either underrepresented or not represented at all (so I am one of those who voted for Chech. Truthfully he isn’t doing too badly voting wise for someone nobody has ever heard of).

I don't understand the 20 Lou Whitaker votes. He's a "3", he's got a 2 Injury Rating, and he's a hard platoon who isn't any better vs RHP than the cards we already have. Yet, he has 20 votes.

Totally agree. I also don't get some of the vote totals of several others. What's mind blowing is that Anthony Rendon's BEST season has ONLY 8 votes.

I can see using that 8R Whitaker card at or below 80m in a cheap platoon at 2b. You don't have to pay for any unused production vs lefties. Plus, it should be his best card for OBP vs righties.

Rendon has been getting a lot of bad press lately. Tough to vote for a guy who doesn't seem to care about the game.

There’s always cards I look at that have a lot of votes that I go that card will never get used or why would someone vote for that over this etc. but overall I think we do a pretty good job of getting the right cards in the set. The top no doubt need to be included always get added and it’s usually a decent balance of improvements of players , franchise needs and first time adds. And when you take a step back and look at the three player group adds that will be added together ,we really have a nice add coming soon.

Considered Chech, read his bio: https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/Charlie-Chech/

Interesting choice, but ultimately didn't vote for him. I mainly voted for infielders and catchers. Seems we need more of them (except first basemen), than pitchers and outfielders.
