...a pretty decent rhp who won 20 games 3 years running for a very good CWS team...his career was only 8 years but in the middle of it, he wasn't bad at all...first AL pitcher to throw complete game wins in both ends of a doubleheader...

There’s always a few guys I feel this way about. I just try to remember everyone votes a different way. Some people want the best carded seasons , others want their favorite players, others for strategic adds weather it’s a franchise , timeframe, or style of play

I nominated Frank Owen. From 1904-1906 he was one of the best pitchers in baseball, winning 21 -22 games each of those seasons. He had arm trouble in 1907 and was out of MLB by 1909 at the age of 29. Per Andy's numbers, he seems to have the best card of all the starting pitchers currently on the ballot and would be a fine addition to the ATG card set.

There are many previously long forgotten good players in the ATG card set that I never heard of prior to playing the ATG game online. Charlie Sweeney, Silver KIng, Ross Barnes and Hugh Duffy come immediately to mind. Some of those players benefited greatly from early baseball rules that differ from the modern game and had diminishing success as the rules evolved. Sweeney, the third highest priced starting pitcher in the ATG game, had his best year, 1884, on which his sole ATG card is based, in what many historians consider NOT to be major league baseball and literally snuck into the ATG card set as a result of being improperly vetted, while his teammate, Fred Dunlap, can't even get on the ATG ballot, despite meeting the plate appearance criteria. By the way, if his 1884 41 win season is counted, Sweeney won only 64 big league games, 18 FEWER than Frank Owen.

The bottom line is that the online ATG game has really never been solely about only the true greats of the game, but has long been about great individual seasons, down to supporting role players and scrubs. How else could a card be justified for 92 AB .370 Gates Brown?

Charlie Sweeney was not improperly vetted. He pitched over 200 innings for Providence in the National League in 1884 and was just as effective as he was for the Maroons in the Union Association. Gates Brown is part of the 1968 Tigers in ATG.

Frank Owen seems like a fine addition to ATG.

Not to be a card nazi, but 1884 Dunlap is probably the one card that needs to be kept out of the set at all costs. Like when you see that season on the all-time OPS+ leaderboard surrounded by Bonds and Ruth and Josh Gibson, doesn't it make you roll your eyes that the league was recognized as a major in the first place? Don't understand wanting it added to ATG but hey, no accounting for taste. Dunlap had a great career and does deserve a card, just not one that puts him on the same tier as Bonds and Ruth. IMHO

As a lifelong Yankee fan, part of me still wishes for Shane Spencer's hot "cup of coffee" 1998 when he came up at the end of the season for that remarkable 114 win Yankee team.
Spencer's 1998 is rightly ruled out, of course, by his 73 PA, which are way below the 300 PA minimum. But his .373 BA / .411 OBP / .910 SLG / 1.321 OPS would be awesome to see on an SOM card.
Spenser never even came close to duplicating those 1998 numbers, but he sure caught lightening in a bottle for 27 games at the end of the year in 1998.
