I look at the card count versus the total number of teams that played in each decade.

These are very interesting numbers. It would seem that on a per-team basis, every one of the other decades are roughly equal, at about 3 players per team. But the 1990s are seriously under-represented, with less than two players per team.

I'm not sure why that might be. Does anyone have any theories as to have this may have happened? Have we made many adds of whole teams from the 1990s?

I feel like the opportunity to make 2000s adds took away from the 1990s adds to a certain degree. Recency bias.

The biggest reason is we don't have many complete teams from the 90s (just 5), compared to the earlier decades. That is going to be an area of focus in 2023-24.

I think his low offensive output relative to his other cards might hurt his chances, though that ALSO drives his price down, maybe a nice small cap option. Across the bag, Placido Polanco has a 2e0 card at 2b, kind of matching Ripken's 2e3, but is stronger offensively. Maybe that Ripken card slots in around 2.50-3.00m? (maybe a *tiny bit* higher with only 3 errors)

Maybe. I mean, offensively, he only batted below the .250 in 1990 in his rookie season and his last season.
All of his 2e(verylowerror) cards are also pretty offensively inferior.
We already have his 4 best offensive seasons (83, 84, 91, 99).
Again, I think it'd be a fun card for small caps.

IMHO two guys not getting enough love, probably because they are gonna be low cap selections are Denny Nagle (he still has a good chance at getting in) and Albie Pearson, good glove (not great) in center and right, minus arm, good OBP and Speed, he could be a good 60 or 80m option on a small ball team. This is his last chance as he was carried over from 22.3!

Another surprise not getting enough votes is Andruw Jones. His 2000 card is much better overall compared to his big homerun card.

guys, it's Cal Ripken he was more durable and more team successful than my beloved Ernie Banks and a lot of other SSs
