I've included some current card information for a few players of consequence that already have a card or cards.

Hope people are looking at this prior to voting-

Id make the case that we should not be wasting votes on cards that aren't much different than what we've got already.

Alternatively look at a card like Frank Baker at 3B--
Perfect example of a card that little bit of a boost in stats might become very useful.
Same thing with Trout- but larger improvement over current card.

There are a number of cards I like here, but I'm not sure I see the rationale behind the additional Ted Williams, Ty Cobb, Joe Morgan cards--since we already have at least one superior card for each of them, as well as cheaper options for smaller budgets.

I'm wondering about other cards because they don't seem to improve meaningfully (and sometimes go backwards) relative to existing cards. These include: SP -Bronson Arroyo; C- Ted Simmons; 1B -Bill Buckner; CF -Andruw Jones; OF -Vlad Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez, Roy Thomas. Also, SP Brad Radke's card doesn't look like it would be very competitive.

However, I may be missing something, and I'd be glad to hear the case for any of these players.

I'll attempt to make a case for a few
Cobb. Yes, we have better hitting Cobbs. But this Cobb, thanks the career high in walks and OBP, combined with a *20-16 , make it the most likely lead off man to set a bunch of stolen base records

Buckner. This one is a 1 in LF (which he was prior to the leg injury that forever changed his career)

Mags Ordonez. A balanced card (as opposed to the one we have who hits lefties). Good defense and a much needed OF add for White Sox theme teams

On Ted Williams, I've spent a while studying his seasons, trying to find a card that gives an option for a Williams card that hits more than it walks, just as something different with regards to him in the set. The card wont match up offensively to the .406 season card, but it will have a lot of hits & doubles, hopefully making it a useful and slightly different add.

From an earlier post about the card:
1948 Ted Williams
If Williams’ cards don’t always hit what you think they should (it’s all those walks), check out his 1948 card.
For all his current cards in the set, his HITS make up between 53%-56% of his OBP. 1948 was the season during his prime when that Hit Pctg of his OBP was it’s highest: 60%. He is VERY Balanced as well, vs LH & vs RH almost identical

just to clarify --
defense, stolen bases, a change of weight from L to R, position, power, doubles, obp etc all can make a difference in usage.

But a card that does not do anything significant differently - and there are some on the list, is what Im referencing.

Similarly a mid level pitcher or hitter that we have a bunch of similar players to would fall into this category as well, not counting franchise needs in this diatribe.

Andy, good job for your hard work: but could you explain what some of the numbers represent, in particular what do the three numbers just before the OPS number mean? I thought they were BA, OBP and slugging, but they appear rather high.I am having a difficult time deciphering some of the stats. Thanks

That's what they are, slash line of AVG/OBP/SLG. Of course the stats come from feeding the cards through DiamondDope at Veterans 1975 (10,10,10,10), and they represent only what's on the hitter's card, so they are higher than a normal slash line. Of course, half of the rolls go on the Pitcher's Card, so no one meets that listed slash line in real simulated games.
