1. 2011 James Shields TB SP* Much needed upgrade for Rays limited ATG pitching staff. 249 ip 225 k 2.82 era 1.04 whip 11 Complete Games! 4 Shutouts! AL All-Star 3rd in Cy Young voting 16th for MVP 7.1 war
2. 1978 Bob Welch, RH S/R, Dodgers, 7-4 2.02 1.060. Career bests in ERA & HR9. Near career bests in WHIP, H9 & BB9. In the 51 seasons since Denny McLain won 31 games in 1968, only 2 pitchers have won as many as 27 games, Steve Carlton in 1972 (27-10 for the 59 win Phillies) and the late Bob Welch in 1990 (27-6 for the A's). Welch's 1990 27 win card ($4.66 mil) does not do him justice.
3. 1915 Ty Cobb. I know I know, another Cobb card. Yet, this was his highest single season OBP (.486) and his stolen base record (96) which would stand until 1962! It's a crime that this card is not already in the set. + PLAYS ALL 162 GAMES (681 AB + Walks)
4.1969 Dick Hall BAL would be a MAJOR improvement over his current three cards. In his best year (for a 16 year career) he had .88 whip, and more importantly gave up only .4HR per 9 innings pitched (as opposed to his current cards of whip/hr9 of 1.01/.8 -- 1.02/1.1 -- .93/1.2).
5. 2001 Keith Foulke White Sox pitched 11 years no card. 81 innings, 42 saves, .975 WHIP
6. 1987 Tim Raines MON LF (4L bal) Career high in HR (18), OBP (.429), and SLG (.526)
https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/802910/1680/1/80
7. 2004 Brad Radke MIN SP. No cards yet. Underrated pitcher that threw during the Steroid Era where his numbers were inflated. 2nd all-time in WAR for Twins pitchers. 11-8, 219 IP, 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, just 26 walks and a 5.5 SO/W ratio. Pitched all 12 years in a Twins uniform.
8. 1933 Wally Berger Braves OF
9. 1962 Bobby Richardson NYY 2B - Yankee Great is poorly represented by current '61 and '64 cards. in 1962 he had career highs in BA (.302), H (209), 2B (38) plus HR & RBI in 692 AB (0 Inj.) along with 2nd best Fld Pct (.982)
10. 2004 Vladimir Guerrero - AL MVP, 39hr's, .337 BA. In Cooperstown with and Angels hat, he should have one in this set too.
11. 2009 Pablo Sandoval - .330 BA, 44 2Bs, 25 HRs, .556 Slg, switch hitting 3B - would be his first card in the set
12. 1998 Brian Jordan - .316 BA, with 25 HRS, played 15 seasons with Cardinals, Braves, Dodgers - also first card in set
13. 2002 Magglio Ordonez-RF-2(-1)e4 - .320/.381/.597, 47 Doubles, 38 HRs Would be a nice add for the White Sox.
14. 1962 Floyd Robinson - .312 / .384 /.475 45 Doubles, 109 RBIs; 10th in MVP voting; another nice Chisox postWW2 add
15. 1979 Jim Kern- RP- TEX: https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/736351/1670/1/70
16. 1914 Ray Caldwell SP/RP -NYY His best season 18-9, 1.94 ERA .958 WHIP. 5 HR in 213 IP
17. 2000 Andruw Jones, RHB, Braves, CF 1(-3)e2 .303 36 104 .366 .541 .907 21 SBs. Career highs in HITS, BA, OBP, TB, PA and 2nd career highs for SLG, OPS & OPS+. Gold Glove winner. A true 5 tool player. In game injury only.
18.1899 Roy Thomas, LHB, Phil's, Rookie Year, he was a great Centerfielder in the early years of baseball. He was much betterthan his representative card, an excellent fielder with a very good arm, hopefully better than a 4(-2) that his card reflects. Lots of errors in his 1st year, but lots of hits and high OBP. Slashed .325/.457/.362 with 42 stolen bases.
19.1889 Fred Carroll C, OF, 1b Pittsburgh NL- NO cards in set. BA: .330 OBP: 486 OPS:970 Should be a great leadoff card. 21 doubles 11Triples in 318 ABs 414 PAs.
20.CIN Aroldis Chapman 2012 .8 whip 15ks/9
http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/91475/2012/1/2071
21. 1993 Juan Gonzalez, Texas 46 Homeruns, 310 .368 .632 Near identical overall stats to his current 8L card, but this card is balanced! Tons of power against lefties and righties. At all but 200M+ caps, this card will get the most usage of any of Juan's cards.
22. 2009 Bronson Arroyo, Reds, RHP, 17 year vet, and solid back end rota guy, 2009 year hews close to career numbers: 15-13, 3.84, 220.1IP, 214 Hits, 31 HRA, 127 Ks, 65W, 1.266 WHIP. Should be a cheap starter. 2010 is better, but not as representative.
23. 1998 Brad Ausmus Hou C
24. 1976 Garry Maddox PHI Cf .330 .377 .833 OPS upgrade over current cards
25. 1968 Bob Bolin SF SP(8) RP(4) 177 IP, 1.98 ERA, 126 K's, 46 BBs, 9 HRs allowed, 10-5 W-L record, could give Giants franchise either another starter or good middle reliever.
26. 2018 Aaron Nola PHI 17-6 212.1IP 224 K’s 2.37 ERA 0.98 WHIP
27. 1983 Willie Aikens KC 1b A big improvement over the 2 cards already in ATG. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/830082/1680/1/80
28. 1973 Joe Morgan, CIN - 2b-1e10 (best fielding card) | L 4R | best stealing | + PLAYS ALL 162 GAMES (687 AB + Walks)
29. 2007 Russell Martin LAD C average/power/speed defence and 600 PA as a catcher!
30. 1912 Larry Gardner, BOS, Bats-L, E Balance 593PA. .315AVE .383OBP
31. 1948 Ted Williams, BOS, Bats-L, E Balance, LF-3(-2)e6, 369/497/615, 1.112 OPS Hit Pctg of his OBP was highest of his career: 60%.
32. 1948 Johnny Lindell, NYY, Bats-R, 3L Balance, LF-2(+1)e2, RF-3(+1)e2
LH--9.9 2b, 0 3b, 8.2 HR, 20 BB 466/565/859, 1.424 OPS
RH--3 2b, 1.5 3b, 6.6 HR, 2 BB 351/363/595, .958 OPS; Great platoon card vs LHP. (Thanks Andy, for stats & suggestion)
33. 1977 Ted Simmons, STL, Bats-S, 1R Balance, C-3(0)e4, RF-4(+1)e16, better against RHP than current 4m cards
34. 1919 Bobby Veach, DET, Bats L, E Balance, LF-2(-3)e13

Re: 20.1 Nominations are Open!

1. 2011 James Shields TB SP* Much needed upgrade for Rays limited ATG pitching staff.

7. 2004 Brad Radke MIN SP.

22. 2009 Bronson Arroyo, Reds, RHP, 17 year vet, and solid back end rota guy, 2009 year hews close to career numbers: 15-13, 3.84, 220.1IP, 214 Hits, 31 HRA, 127 Ks, 65W, 1.266 WHIP. Should be a cheap starter. 2010 is better, but not as representative.

Will it bother you that Trout is a 2 Injury Rating?

Doesn’t bother me. He had over 600 plate appearances so he’s a max 3 game. For that defense and his all time best ops I would be happy to manage it

Trout is a 15 game injury risk. Amazingly SOM doesn't count HBP's toward PA's. Like the code would be HARD to fix. AB's + BB's + HBP's = PA's. Also Sac Fly's are not included. If the code was updated/fixed there are a number of players that would go from 15 games to 3. Jim Edmunds is one of them.
