I'm a little uncertain about this comment with regard to Bob Meusel. His new card looks to me like it would be a marginal improvement over the current card, but not a major upgrade. Am I missing something? :?:

I think it is unique for Meusel, which is how I try to look at improvements.
To me, an improvement is either:
1-- Player needs a better card for a better representation of his career
2-- A unique card for the player that would change his place in the set

The 1925 Meusel has a LOT more Home Run power than his other cards, with better speed and defense than his other cards.

1925 Bob Meusel, NYY, Bats-R, E Balance, LF-1(-4)e5, RF-2(-4)e5, CF-4(-4)e5, 3b-4e27, 3 Game INJ Risk, Run-1-16
LH--5.1 2b, 2.5 3b, 10.2 HR, 7 BB 316/366/723, 1.089 OPS
RH--5.1 2b, 2.5 3b, 10.0 HR, 7 BB 311/362/712, 1.074 OPS

Current 1927 Meusel, 6.03m, NYY, Bats-R, E Balance, RF/LF-1(-5)e11, *2-5/-(18-13), 15 Game INJ Risk, Run 1-15
LH--17.1 2b, 2.4 3b, 0.5 HR, 7 BB 390/435/624, 1.059 OPS
RH--10 2b, 2 3b, 2.3 HR, 8 BB 395/445/605, 1.050 OPS

Actually I like the Escobar choice, Royals SS needs an upgrade, as do Twins (91 Greg Gagne).

Judging by the 15 votes, not many believe they do...

OK, I think I'm getting it. Are there are a lot more BPHR on the 1925 card?
If so, that might not show up as such an obvious difference in a 10-10 park like Veterans, but it would make a real difference in a righty power park.
It's too late in terms of my vote in this round, but he may make it in this year, and if not, I could vote for him next year...

You did see that he has 10 HR each way - that's 4 from BPHR in a 1-10 park and 6 naturals.

Looks like the cut line is 22 at this point. Some of the 21's may have a shot. Meusel is at 25, he should be comfortable. I'm not really comfortable that this card will be priced much more than the other, since he's only a 2 in RF and a -4 arm in LF is pretty much wasted.

Otis Nixon needs your votes! Currently tied for the last one in!

Let's finally get Otis added to the set!

Thanks
Bill

From a purely selfish perspective (since I nominated him)...I would have liked to have thought that Les Bell might have gotten some more consideration...we can always use decent hitting (and acceptable defending) third basemen...a name from a distant past with no resonance but would have made a nice addition...oh, well

Les got my vote. Apparently he doesn’t have enough descendants active on the boards.
