Post War Infielders---NO CARD Edition

PostMon Feb 25, 2019 10:39 pm

Many have said that we don't know what we are getting when we nominate cards, so I've taken some time to put some stats together from some cards, using Diamond Dope and Veterans 1975 for the park, since it's kind of neutral (10,10,10,10). I asked Bill for his permission/blessing to do this. So I'll be posting some card add ideas, thoughts, etc to hopefully keep interest up and give folks some stuff to actually discuss on the boards.

1957 Bob Boyd, BAL, Bats-L, E Balance, 1b-2e15, LF-4(+1)e13
LH--2.5 2b, 1.5 3b, 0 HR, 12 BB 435/503/493, .996 OPS
RH--3.5 2b, 1 3b, 1.5 HR, 10 BB 384/447/487, .934 OPS
Another player who used up his prime in the Negro Leagues, finally got a starting MLB job at age 37 and made the most of it. A Singles Machine, his nickname was "Rope" because of his ubiquitous line drives.

1961 Gordy Coleman, CIN, Bats-L, 2R Balance, 1b-4e12
LH--4.9 2b, 0.3 3b, 6.5 HR, 6 BB 270/317/517, .834 OPS
RH--6.5 2b, 0.3 3b, 9 HR, 2 BB 292/312/617, .928 OPS
Power Source for the 1961 NL Champion Reds, Good Power, not much OBP

1962 Lee Thomas, CAL, Bats-L, 3R Balance, 1b-4e30, RF/LF-3(0)e11, CF-4(0)e11
LH--0 2b, 0.6 3b, 3.8 HR, 3 BB 264/298/384, .682 OPS
RH--4.7 2b, 0 3b, 5.4 HR, 8 BB 316/380/528, .907 OPS
First Angels star, pretty good vs RHP

1953 Davey Williams, NYG, Bats-R, E Balance, 2b-2e20
LH--5.1 2b, 0.3 3b, 1.8 HR, 7 BB 262/316/372, .688 OPS
RH--4.9 2b, 0.3 3b, 1.8 HR, 7 BB 258/313/367, .688 OPS
All-Star season for Giants 2b, good defense for NYG post, mainly an add for defense

1957 Ed Bouchee, PHI, Bats-L, 1R Balance, 1b-3e17
LH--7.3 2b, 1 3b, 4.8 HR, 22 BB 275/456/564, 1.020 OPS
RH--6.6 2b, 1.9 3b, 2.9 HR, 14 BB 344/459/555, 1.014 OPS
PHI Post 1b stink, so he'd be an upgrade. Had this good 1957 rookie season, then got into legal trouble and missed half the 1958 season (he's lucky, he should've missed a LOT more), but was never really the same after that first season.

1955 Norm Zauchin, BOS, Bats-R, 1L Balance, 1b-2e8
LH--1.6 2b, 0 3b, 3.2 HR, 21 BB 312/452/442, .894 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0 3b, 9.1 HR, 15 BB 183/304/479, .783 OPS
He had this one season, which isn't very good. BOS post 1b's are the 5m Runnels and 2m Gernert. I wouldn't be for this as an addition.

RH--0 2b, 0.8 3b, 0 HR, 6 BB 197/242/213, .454 OPS
I understand the sentiment, though this was his only MLB season. He would be an under 1m guy, so he could fill a scrub role for sure.
