Highly useful cards for your consideration!

PostFri Feb 23, 2018 5:17 pm

This is just the beginning of some suggested adds I will offer the community.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/33134/1660/1/60 Dick Donovan Wash 1961 (Texas Rangers for franchises) A superb year for Dick Donovan who had a 15 year career, lifetime .553 winning pct. American League ERA title 1961, 1.026 whip. As you can see from the card he was a serious groundball pitcher, superb backward righty to add to the non* starting pool which still needs a lot more cards to vie with the * rotations in popularity.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/35241/1660/1/60 Bill Henry Cincy 1964, unhittable lefty reliever vs lefties that year, 5M+ card R2, 16 year career, lifetime ERA+ 120 (lots of pitchers in HOF with less impressive lifetime era+) 420 ERA+ for 1964!!!, .0827 whip

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/37496/1660/1/60 Felix Mantilla, Red Sox 1964 Great utility player / dh vs lefties

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/41149/1690/1/90 1992 Don Slaught No current card. Absolutely unique card. Solid hitter but this year, a righty against righties. This is what Sanguillen's 1970 card looks like -only in reverse.

I would like to propose a remarkable player that was born without a right hand but that did not prevent him from pitching in the major leagues as a starting pitcher. His best season was 1991 with the Angels, in which he won 18 games, ERA of 2.89, WHIP of 1.214, SO/W 2.16, 243 IP, 5 complete games, 1 shutout, and was 3rd in the Cy Young voting. I had the honor of seeing him pitch in person while he with the Angels(I had to see him in action with my own eyes). And yes, someone tried to bunt on him. No problem, the runner was thrown out easily. His name: Jim Abbott. To read about him, go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Abbott. No card, let's add him.

Totally agree with Abbott: http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/2914/1690/1/90 1991. Great reverse lefty.

Another backward lefty Denny Neagle http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3811/1690/1/90 1997 1.08 whip 20-5 WL

Mike Hampton 1999 No card. http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3563/1690/1/90 22-4 Francoesque hard lefty starter.

Tom Browning 1988 8R lefty http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/31445/1690/1/90 8R lefty starter mid price. These guys don't grow on trees.

I like all of those lefty starters, especially Jim Abbott. He should definitely be in the set.

I'd like to keep 1969 Fritz Peterson in the conversation. 1L Lefty with no diamonds on either side. His only card in the set is mostly unusable. Led league in whip in '69 and '70. Fewest BB/9 five straight years.

Hadn't gotten to Fritz yet. But I absolutely agree he should get the card for that year.

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/835822/1680/1/80 How does this man not have a card???? Let's add his 23-8 '88 card!!

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/736351/1670/1/70 I remember his best season. A monster vs righties 1.57 era.

Jackson should be in the set and Kern's best year would be a welcome addition for sure.

Here is another fantastic card. 2012 Jake McGee - 9R (yes, R) Lefty - allows absolutely nothing to righties regardless of ballpark! Still gets lefties out often enough.

Been busy with the BS Finals. Anyway, never knew about Jake McGee but he looks like a fantastic add! MIght be hard to get him voted in though as there are certain folks adamantly opposed to the addition of post 2000 players and another interest group dead set against pre 1900 adds. But the purpose of my creating this thread is to speak to the people and let the people speak here about what they want, special interests notwithstanding.
