Thanks,

Heads up everyone, there were some minor changes that I worked with the ambassadors on to the TB Rays add that I neglected to post. Just wanted to get ahead of the release of those cards to mitigate the questions. tks!

No 1998 Arroyo, 2008 Carlos Pena instead
No 2005 Gomes, 2008 Gomes instead

If somebody listed this player and year, I apologize, but if the goal is to add the best Rays cards, this would be one of them. Hopefully, the fact that he has a card for the 2008 Rays won't prevent this one from being added.

2009 Jason Bartlett, SS, Rays .320 14 66 .389 .490 .879 30 SBs. Career highs in virtually every major offensive category. Bartlett would complete the Rays infield. Good lead off man. SS 1e25.

Bernie, I like a lot of the adds you suggested, and I feel the same way on most. On Bartlett, however, this card places him on par with Lloyd, Rollins, Trammell, Ozzie, Boudreau, Larkin, Dahlen and the like in the 7.5-6.5 range. IMO, his career does not deserve a card in this range, when he slashed .270 .336 .366 for his career.

Why Carlos Pena when we have his best card? His 2008 card is not needed IMO.

We get the 2008 Gomes where he batted a crisp .182?

I don't get it. What am I missing?

Part of the reason to add whole teams was to get some low end guys, so thats why we went with the 2008 Gomes. As for Pena, heavy vR and will be at a lower price point than current card for platooning.

It's the constant challenge faced with adding to this set. Personally I've come to like the idea of having a card that reflects a guys career AND a card at his peak, as long as the sample size isn't anywhere near Gates Brown'ish. Makes for interesting roster choices especially in the franchise leagues you run Andy.

It's official - The Tampa Bay Rays have their own grouping in the team pull down..much rejoicing!

Hoo-Ray!

The Rays need the 2009 Bartlett card to really be viable in a franchise league, in my opinion.

A James Shields upgrade to his 2011 card (AS, CYA-3, MVP-16) would help too.

As would another bat, such as 2005 Jonny Gomes (ROY-3).

I think Strat should just add these under represented franchises, rather than us having to waste 25 votes on a bunch of uninspiring cards.

I agree that it would be awesome if Strat would add a world series team for Arizona, Colorado, and Florida (as they should have done for the Rays), rather than us having to vote them in.

However, even for non-Rays fans, we did get a few inspiring cards in the Rays add in my opinion, especially Fernando Rodney and Grant Balfour.

Since we get an extra 25 cards with one add, I don't really see it as a waste. And if you play at the lower caps at all, it is nice to get an influx of cheaper cards once in a while.
