Early ponderings on Angel additions:

1/ Earl Averill, Jr. 1962 season. The card that we have is always intriguing. Time for a card of a different but equally intriguing variety. http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/30351/1660/1/60 Not much hitting, but loads of walks. Some might look at the 1961 season and that would be fine, but I'm a sucker for a good base on balls guy. Leftfield and catcher.

2/ Wally Joyner. 1987 season. The '86 card we have doesn't do him justice. The 1987 card has everything you'd want: doubles, homers, walks, positive clutch on 7 and that glorious defense. http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/803200/1680/1/80 Time for Wally's World.

3/ Torii Hunter. 2009 or 2012 seasons. In 2009, he's a 1 in CF http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/545/2009/1/2009 with a great skills set, but with that annoying injury. In 2012, http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/545/2012/1/2012 he's a 1 in RF, the injury is reduced, better average but less overall power. The Angels have really been blessed with some great outfielders in the 2000s. We just got Anderson and Trout -- time for Torii.

4/ Alberto Callaspo. 2011 season. http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/177/2011/1/2011 Not a game changer by any means (and is not going to compete with Glaus or the expensive Decinces but better than the rest), but he would be a more-than-serviceable 3b with some decent getting on base chops.

Bobby Grich 1981. How many times do you see a 2B lead the league in SLG and OPS+, with a RF/9 that beats the league average (by .5). Yes, we already have some nice years there, but this year might be special, even though the strike year means he is a 15+ injury risk. I'll always remember a Sports Illustrated Where are they now issue, and they asked him how he spends his days in retirement. He said something like, well, people aren't going to like to hear this, but I wonder which bikini I'm going to take on my boat that day. I guess he wasn't spending his days playing Strat.

Current players being promoted::
SP - Brendon Donnelly 2003
1B - Wally Joyner 1987

Chone Figgins 2009 is already on the list.

I have Andy, visick and FrankM listed as ambassadors. Are the above players confirmed?

Only 2 Angels over the last 5 card adds, slotting at least 2 spots for Angels in the 17.4. Can you guys provide me with 3-5 nominees?

tks

I still like Bobby Grich 1981. Led the league in slugging as a 2b!

For the bullpen 2014 Joe Smith .8 whip in 74 innings
1991 Bryan Harvey NO CARD .86 whip, 78 innings 5th in Cy Young
