Community - Get into the Card Discussions!

It seems that every time SOM announces ATG player additions there's a scramble to nominate, which has produced decent results, but to me is very single threaded and relies on first come first serve. I'd like to propose that we the community take on the responsibility to prepare and present new ATG additions by having 2-3 leads per franchise and era. This is not a new concept but one I've only seen discussed in the context that SOM should do it. Also I think its important to expand this concept outside of the 'Franchise' and incorporate the Era's as well. I anticipate there will be some obvious crossover, but we should include those managers that don't participate in franchised themed leagues and I believe having an Era component will serve as a good balance.

So here are my thoughts:
Take signups for 2-3 Ambassadors for each Franchise (Negro Leagues too) and Era (we can use the SOM designations)
Those Ambassadors would have the following objectives:
Set up an ILC to meet
    Review current rosters/era
    Identify holes
Produce a running priority list of desired adds

Anyone could jump into their franchise or era of interest ILC and suggest players. How we rank those players across Franchise/Era and submit to SOM is something for consideration. We could nominate guys that know the set well like Andy, Nev, BruceF, Moose...to be our consolidators and final say...but all those guys do quite a bit now.

If there's enough interest I'll set up the initial signups.

Thoughts?

I suggested this last year or so. I volunteered to cover the blue jays.

I have nominated lots of blue jays as franchise greats like olerud and have tried to suggest players for the gaps..Vernon wells in cf (he actually did cover the gaps back in the day!!)

anything to increase interest and play...seems like it takes forever for leagues to fill

I like the idea. I'm all for more representation for ALL teams in every ERA. My post to Garcia's Blog also consisted of the following. This is just a start for the Rockies.

Ellis Burks 1996.

While I'm voting for a Colorado Rockies player how about the following to be added regardless to help that Franchise. I'll call it it the Fill in the Gaps.

Andres Galarraga 1993 or 1996
Eric Young 1996
Vinny Castilla 1998
Dante Bichette 1995
Matt Holliday 2007
Carlos Gonzalez 2010
Ubaldo Jimenez 2010
Manny Corpas 2007
Brian Fuentes 2008
Steve Reed 1995

This can be done for every team for every ERA. Just saying!

Yep. Then if SOM says 'only 40' then we can hopefully work with them to nominate the cards we've prioritized.

I'm going to go ahead and start the franchise /era sign up thread and see how far we get.

Franchise / Era Ambassador sign ups

HEADS UP...this might amount to absolutely nothing but then again it might. The idea is to use this concept to raise awareness for the deserving cards we suggest and hopefully have SOM add them either when they call out for nominations or on a more regular basis. 2-3 per Era / Franchise would be ideal so its not just one guys opinion.

If you'd like to be a lead in bringing to the forefront deserving cards per Franchise or Era please step forward and sign up.
