22.4 Nominations are Open!

PostThu Dec 01, 2022 9:49 am

Greetings,

We are now taking nominations for the 22.4 card add.

Please note our usage parameters for nominations -
Minimums:
300 PA
100 IP Starters (S or S/R)
50 IP Relievers

AL/NL cards from 1876-2021 are eligible.

Our 22.4 parameters are as follows.
1. One nomination per member only
2. When we hit 40 unique nominations we will begin voting (after Andy posts card analysis)
3. We will have one poll of 50 cards; the top 25 will be added
4. Next "x" highest vote getters will get another shot in 23.1

Please submit nominations in a 'Year Player Team Position Comments' format.

To be included in the 22.4 poll:

1997 Denny Neagle ATL SP 40
1933 Jimmie Foxx PHA 1B 40
1922 Carson Bigbee PIT OF 36
1983 Lloyd Moseby TOR CF 36
1963 Elston Howard NYY C 35
1976 Thurman Munson NYY C 35
1895 Pink Hawley Pitt SP 34
1880 George Gore CHC CF 34
2019 Juan Soto WAS LF 33
1963 Albie Pearson CAL CF 33

1. 2021 Brandon Lowe TB 2b left-handed hitting second basemen with 39 HRs. Eight ballpark homerun chances on each side of card. Only one other lefty batting 2B in MLB history with 39 HRs (Cano). Huge add for the offensively challenged Rays. Great fit for Tropicana Field 1999. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/94319/2021/1/2021

5. 1882 Joe Start PRO 1B. Start was 4 years old when baseball was invented and 16 when he began playing as an amateur before the Civil War. By the time the NL debuted in 1876 he was already 33. Yet despite the constantly changing rules and equipment that characterized the sport's earliest years, Start was productive for the duration of his 28-year career, with an OPS+ of 121 as a professional. 1882, his age 39 year, is his best eligible season: .329/.342/.407 for a 142 OPS+.

1990 Cal Ripken. set all time record for fewest errors by a SS. over 20 doubles and 20 HR's. also bullet proof as in 0 injury. think he would be a 2/0 at SS. make a great addition to the set and he deserves having not only his but baseball's all-time career SS fielding year in the set. thanks

An anagram for the game itself, clearly he's meant to be included!
