tiebreaker question

PostSat Apr 11, 2020 12:21 am

A very tight season in 70s League 10 ended with clear winners in the East (85 wins) and West (87 wins.)

Teams A and B each finished with 84 wins in Central.

Team C (from the West) also finished with 84 wins and is the only other contender for the Wild Card spot. This gives us three 84-win teams for two playoff spots.

It seems to me a tiebreaker would first have to take place between A and B to pick a divisional winner and after that, we'd look at the loser versus Team C to pick a Wild Card winner.

Is there any other way to do this? If there isn't, the standings appear to have been calculated incorrectly.

The team in the West lost head-to head matchup vs. both Central division teams.

Thanks for your reply. Yep, I was reading the West team's H2H chart incorrectly so that team (my team) is out.

But shouldn't the team that went 14-10 against the other win the Central?

I now agree it doesn't impact me but I still think the division winner and WC team should switch places.

The matchups are correct based on head to head. They are in incorrect position in the standings.

Yeah it does look correct - tough break bkr1974. Getting swept in the final series when you just need one win hurts. It will be a long off-season for the Flamingos. Looks like LMBombers survived despite a final series sweep - phew!
