asking people for an 8 season commitment seems like a lot to me but I'll keep my fingers crossed that things work out well. I've participated in running the last few mystery tournaments using the traditional format, but I'm very happy to let others run it this time around.

If you're going to do an 8 league commitment (2x each set), it would be a whole lot more interesting to mix it up some. Maybe a couple $100M leagues, or a $60M league. The 70s and 90s sets would be support $100M, while the 60s and 80s would be better for $60M. Or even some 24-team leagues? Or even 1 DH and 1 non-DH season with each set.

Juiced JC wrote:Thanks for stepping up to organize this Rosie, but I'm not a big fan of your changes. I would have preferred if you kept it at 4 leagues, with the top 12 competing in the finals. Now we're looking at a commitment of up to 10 teams, which I think will drop our participation numbers. Also, having a semi-finals run after ALL 8 seasons are done will force the top 8 to sit on the bench for months for the semi-finals to finish before the finals can start. That's not a great format - you'll be having to track down owners that have lost interest before the finals starts. Also, we finished in late August / early September last year, so I think it will be hard to squeeze this ambitious plan into a calendar year. Plus, it forces a full calendar year of attention/commitment, and will roll right into the following year's tournament.

I'll sign up regardless, but I think sticking with the current format would be wiser.

Thanks for those that have expressed their feedback on the 2019 tourney. I agree its ambitious so let me walk through my thinking and maybe that will put some at ease or maybe not, at least you'll know where my head is.

The format is very similar to the current Barnstormers which is very well run. 6 events (one drop), top 9 make the Finals and wait for 10-57 to complete the three Semi-finals. Due to the mystery part of the Mystery set I felt an event that supported an expansion of the number of rounds, allowed for a bad round or two to be dropped and had more teams qualify for the playoffs would be a better competitive representation. I've also mapped out the entire calendar of events and it works within 2019...BUT I too see the 8 regular season rounds as a potential challenge and have a plan B option that I will post here shortly.

As for the idea of playing with the salary caps, interesting and not something I had thought of before. I hesitate to try it in the Tournament before seeing it in action and will try and start a couple to see the impact. I do know we can't go to a 24 team league (I've run a few 24 team Mystery leagues) simply because at the waiver rate the number of players available would dry up really quick.

Thanks!
Rosie
