Don't Steal checked and ignored

I just played a game where a player who is marked under Hitter Preferences -->Steal --> Don't, just get caught stealing second base. A frigging lumbering catcher at that. An (E) rated 1-9 running dude that has no business stealing.

WHY give us the capacity to choose preferences if they are going to be routinely ignored?

If a hit and run was attempted while he was on base--the batter can miss the pitch, and he can be forced to attempt a steal even with a don't steal checked.

A couple of seasons back I nearly had an aneurism as I lost a game when David Ortiz was out stealing home. Through the fog of my rage, I failed to see it was a missed suicide squeeze attempt or some such.

These things will happen, and eventually you come to accept that with all the craziness a zillion simulations create, there is almost always an embarrassingly easy explanation for most things.
